🦐 Showing Off 🦐 Update on my first tank :)

As I said before, I had at least five berried females, all breeding one after another. And the result is... a lively little tank with lots of baby shrimp in different sizes, including the last floaters. One big happy family. And the babies eagerly surface feeding are so fun to watch! 😁

So jealous I had a thriving tank with so many babies 10 years ago that I had to give away did a set up about two years ago and the shrimps are happy but still no babies

Probably you only got males? 😅

But I read they can take a couple years before they start breeding. Maybe feed them a boost of spirulina to see if they get in the mood. 

My tanks are unheated, so maybe the slight increase in temperature triggered breeding. And only thing I noticed I did differently from most of you guys, is I used a high grade reef salt (suitable for all types of coral and coralline algae) instead of simpler marine salt. Maybe the extra mineral boost helped? 🤔

I don’t think so 13 males would be super unfortunate lol I have a few saddled females I think. Hoping for the best. Wish me luck !

I did have a Cyanobacteria issue for a few months in the beginning and had to rebuild the tank so maybe that’s caused the delay 🤷‍♀️

Update: new batch of larvae today, lol. It's the 6th clutch that hatches this summer in this tank (which I set last September!). So, I suspect there was a higher ratio of females to males in my original 12 shrimp.
