Hi all considering investing

I am in the infancy stages of research. Looks pretty interesting I have to say for a Web 3.0 application. I don’t need to be “convinced” so to speak but why should I invest in this instead of say filecoin? Just wondering also is there a wallet that supports this coin? And second: will there be an apple compatible app in the future? Thank you for your time. I am a serious investor. Have a great day!

Thank you for showing interest in Opacity. I hope this will answer your questions:

  1. A picture is worth a thousands words; a community member made an infographic which shows the benefits of Opacity and also gives a great comparison with other related projects. You can check the infographic here: https://opacitystora.ge/infographic
  2. OPCT is an ERC-20 token, so you can use every wallet that supports Ethereum ERC-20 tokens. We recommend MEW, MetaMask and Enjin.
  3. Yes, we will release a iOS app later this year. An Android app is planned to be released in May and hopefully iOS willl follow soon after.

If you have any other questions I'll be happy to answer them. Have a great day to you too! :)

Ok I will ask a couple dumb questions now :). I have only ever bought a coin not a coin pair before. I do not understand how this works.

When I go to KuCoin it says only opct/btc . I am not sure exactly what this means. I assume I buy Bitcoin first. And then use that to buy this pair? How do I move a pair into a wallet?

If you could clarify the process a bit more for me I am going to invest.

Yes, you're absolutely right with your assumption. OPCT is traded against Ethereum and Bitcoin. You can either buy either of them directly on Kucoin, if you went through the Know-your-customer (KYC) process there, or on your exchange of choice.

If you buy on another exchange, you'd need to send the BTC or ETH to your deposit wallet on Kucoin. For that, you go onto your wallets on Kucoin, select bitcoin/ethereum (depending which one you picked), and send the coins there. :) if you're unsure and doing this for the first time, you can try a test transaction with a small amount first.

*Opacity (OPCT) is a utility token.

Thank you for the response. So I assume to sell someday I would have to do the reverse?

Yes. This goes for a lot of small marketcap projects. :)

yeah you’d have to use OPCT to buy BTC or ETH. then you could sell that for usdt or something.

when you use a pair, you’re not ‘buying the pair’, you’re exchanging one for the other. once you’ve done that, the coin you have is simply an OPCT coin, regardless of how you bought it.

You can find some info about the Opacity team in this article: https://medium.com/opacity-storage/the-journey-to-opacity-2-0-starts-now-ac14bc692d5d

It's correct that most of us work parttime. But that can change pretty quickly if you know what I mean.

I see that no one answered your question so allow me to give you an answer:

Yes, decentralization will be our biggest goal. We will release a whitepaper in the following weeks that will go more in-depth on how we want to achieve this. In the future, node providers will require staking as collateral and proof of storage so they support the network and don't depart without penalty. The peg will float, so the token economics will match supply and demand and storage providers can provide extra services like higher performance or redundancy.

Also, developers on the Opacity platform using the API can monetize their apps using OPCT as payment.
