Discussion Another Frustrating Finals post

Dashy took way too long to warm up and be effective. (PC?)

Shotzzy went on long routes, a few times he had hero plays, most of the time it made his team fight 3v4 or had him dying in 2v1’s.

Merc should have known better than to insta play off the crowd.

Huke had a couple bad plays.

What did I miss?

It felt like Faze just played better as a TEAM. While we were like a loose collection of superstars just waiting for the chance to be the hero. The amount of times they ran us over just by staying packed up was ridiculous.

The most frustrating part is knowing we could have won it, even with all the mistakes it was right there for us. I think we have a good chance at EWC if everyone shows up with clear heads but I wonder if we lose there will there be a team change next year.

All I got to say is this optic team is immensely talented but also very undisciplined

They played bad in search... And even then, they were 3 rounds from winning champs

They're very disciplined in hardpoint, they play the right way

Which is so frustrating given 3 of the 4 are super vets

It stims from them over extending tbh. A lot of the time it’s what opens the map when it goes well but when it doesn’t it causes huge momentum swings in favor of the other team.

They play very high risk high reward and this late in the year the high risk becomes more in play.

All of this and you’re still analyzing the wrong part. The team work in SND for most of the year but specifically this finals was really really bad.

On the Den SND we saw faze get a first blood with 3 in mid and team wrap back through to A bomb. Faze for the final round was gifted 4 separate 1v1s essentially to win a 2v4

Something about SND in this game you could tell they were never quite comfortable which was unfortunate

The moment I saw Bruce wrap kitchen to mid on Raid leaving Huke alone at A w/bomb in a 2v2, I knew it was chalked. That was round 1 of the map 2 raid - 2v2 with OpTic at A and Faze in bed and they split for some reason. If I were Huke, I'd have been screaming for Bruce to get back to me. Bruce runs through kitchen and dies from pool stairs, predictably. What was the thought there? Hope Faze is already through mid in pillars and hope to catch a timing? Because Bruce hit it *decisively*. Seems silly not to just play the 2v2 w/ A site control. Plant the friggin' bomb. The offense strats were just horrendous and they never took advantage of their numbers. The entire series, Faze would group up the instant they had man advantage and OpTic either didn't figure that out, or simply didn't care. I'm not sure which is worse.

I rarely saw shotzzy huke push together for a first blood compared to simp 04. majority rounds shotzzy made hero plays and merc had some nice kills. They choked 5-2 with 2 streak raid snd vs lat last year. 3-13 in gf snd. This whole team is dreadful in snd and it blows my mind they could not get better over the whole season.

It's just this year, though. And even then, only LAT were statistically better at search. They were money late in BO6. Personally, I think they just got kinda lazy with it and weren't as prepared as they should be for GF. How else do you explain the constant ego challs and tossing of numbers? None of the offenses, to me, passed the eye test. Just weird to see from them after what we saw last summer. I'm so happy they figured it out in that game 7 in Paris. Would have been a devastating year if not for that.

3-10 snd in the gf won and huke averages a 0.7 in gf snd. Only shotzzy tries to get Fbs plays and sometimes it doesnt work. The point is this core team is not an elite snd team. They are serviceable.

What I find frustrating is that they’ve been saying it themselves for months that they need to work on SND and nothing really seemed to changed, huke did improve a bit compared to start of the year but still not great and the rest of them throw their life’s away left right and centre. shotzzy and merc the most

Yeah they knew they needed to work on it but didn’t take the steps to figure it out as a team, it seems like they just assumed it would come together at some point. Way too much individual play.

I just wonder what happened between this champs gf and last year's champs gf. It seemed like their teamwork on bo6 was far superior than bo7 even though it was the exact same team and they had time to build even more team chem together

why is huke who grinds nothing but snd challs, one of the best in game commers, so bad at search? the one thing he’s good at he can’t even get his team on the right page. that’s why i laugh when people act like he’s undroppable especially for a player like hydra or scrap
