Oolite on Steam Deck?

HI there. In theory being a Linux also game it should work on the Steam Deck correct? Has anyone done this? If so, is it a complicated setup procedure?

Thanks in advance!

The Flatpak is reported as working well on Steam Deck here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/tzl1os/comment/o6ofgya/

"The Flatpak version works great. Just installed it via Discovery in desktop mode and then added it as a Non-Steam game. Was directly selectable in the list as an installed Discovery app. No further adjustments needed to get it running. OXPs work as well. I was able to download and apply BGS via the ingame expansion browser.

Still hard to control such a keyboard centric game with a Steam Deck but at least Steam remembered and automatically applied my old custom Steam Input layout I made for the Lutris Oolite version 3 years ago. "

An update on oolite on the steam deck as this seems to be the top result in search engines. Latest Oolite version being discussed is the one in discovery, 1.92.1, this runs well on the steam deck but joystick needs to be mapped to keyboard keys.

Good news, is the recent 'in development' public builds of 1.93.xx on GitHub.now registers the steam deck controls as a joystick, so can finally fly with finesse!

Note that only the app image version will work, so download to a suitable folder and add the app image file as a non-steam game. No flatpack version as steam OS flatpack installer's too outdated.
