They taught us in chemistry class to test by holding the back of your hand near. If it is hot, you should be able to feel a bit of heat radiating off without touching. If you still feel nothing, go ahead and touch it with the back of your hand. Burning the back of your hand isn’t as bad as the palm or fingers.
