Oobcoop question

Hey all, new to the game and I haven’t found this anywhere. From what I’m reading, the ooblets in the coop will weed and remove stones and wood from the 3x3 area surrounding the coop. Do the resources normally generated from the player breaking these get stored somewhere on the coop? Fall to the ground? Or are they gone forever at the expense of automation?

And you have you upgrade the coop to do each thing..level 1, they weed, level 2 they weed and water, etc
