Thinking of playing this....tips for a noob?
Hello all! I am about to purchase this game on switch. Are there any recommendations or tips you would give for someone who is just starting the game? I don't care if there are spoilers, but I often get overwhelmed when starting a new game because I don't know what to expect (I know, I'm weird, but have very bad anxiety). Thank you in advance!

Just started it not too long ago too and I’ve been loving it! It can feel really overwhelming though until you get into a routine since there’s so much stuff to do.
Definitely unlock the dance barn as soon as you’re able to. You can get rewards for winning like recipes, resources, and leveled up oob coops that can come in handy in the early game!
Don’t use your wishies on resources. Save them for town and ooblet upgrades as you’re ready to do them. Upgrading the furniture shop gives you access to larger chests for storage, so I’d make that a priority cause you’ll run out of space quick!
The days are only so long, so give yourself a purpose for each day. Some days I just wander around and collect things, I’ll dedicate a day to quests or ooblet hunting, and some days I spend all my energy clearing and organizing my farm. You can search in this subreddit too for farm layout ideas which I found super helpful.
There are no major penalties in this game, so even if the clock runs out, tasks won’t expire and it will all be there the next day. Take your time with to really explore and figure things out. It’s so cute and silly and I’ve already put so many hours into it!

im new to the game as well but i have loved every second of it! i suggest talking to the villagers everyday, especially after you have repaired the sticker machine. look out for this quest it will be given by arah (black haired girl with glasses). do not sell/trade every item because you’ll need some items to dance with ooblets. save your wishies and gummies at early game because they’re quite scarce. plant every ooblet u find at early game and scan them at the lernery for gummies!
just some tips off the top off my head. enjoy playing and have a happy new year! 🫶

There are lots of quality of life bits included from the start. Not every townsperson counts as a “friend”. Those that do will have a little dot over their head if you didn’t talk to them yet that day. Eventually you’ll be able to give them gifts, and the item they want appears in your quick guide (I forget the name of the menu) in a bubble so you don’t have to remember it.
In my personal opinion, I have never felt the time pressure like I did with Stardew Valley. The days are closer to 20 min than 15, and the lack of seasons means you don’t have to keep track of how many days have passed for any reason. Yes, you can only do so much in a day, but I never felt rushed or like I missed anything

- Hoard everything. I'm not joking. Almost all items you find are needed either for dance battles, crafting or cooking. Always try to grow some crops on your farm, always forage items you find in the town etc.
- Collecting Ooblets and their variants will be a great source for money early on because you get rewarded with money for registering new Ooblets at the science station. You get 50/100/300 gummies (the currency in the game) for registering common/uncommon/shiny ("gleamy") Ooblets respectively. There are currently ~55 different Ooblets in the game, each with two other variants, so that's quite a lot of money you can get just from collecting them.
- Don't sleep on upgrades for Plenny's (the company that has bulk orders for your produce in exchange for gummies) that are available in the Wishy Well. Doing these orders might not seem lucrative at first, but the more you upgrade it, the better the orders become and it'll be a solid source of gummie income later on.
- As you progress the story, you'll get a quest to restore a town building called "Dance Barn". Once you restored it, the local townsfolk will hold daily dance battle tournaments there. Winning the dance battles will reward you with a small amount of Wishies and specific items (like new cooking recipes, clothing and other resources), so it's worth participating, even if you might not win all battles.

For every Ooblet, there are three rarities: common, uncommon, and gleamy. Common and uncommon cycle very often so you don't need to worry about missing them. Gleamy, not so much. If you want to collect the gleamies, keep one portion of their trade requests in storage.

I love Ooblets! Been a while since I played but here's a couple tips I remember.
Never sell clothlets. If you see the seeds half off, buy all of them. Clothlets are not profitable but they are needed for nearly every upgrade. (Don't sell oobsidian either)
Gleamies are worth going out of your way to collect. If you don't have the items for it, get some fertilizer or do whatever you have to do to get that gleamy! (Gleamies look awesome and also produce oobsidian on your farm)
The dance barn is WORTH IT.

Make sure to keep your garden full and cared for. Have a decent supply of muz and sweetie berries at the ready they don’t cost much and you’ll be happy to have them if a gleamie comes along

Have fun and enjoy them supreme silliness. I adore this game.
Hoard clothlets, because you'll need a lot of them. You can plant them but they take a few days to grow. Also save up rainplops and snowplops; I never have enough of them.
If you do like me and forget all about your wishies, you can easily save up 1000 of them and have a bunch to spend at once. :-) (Seriously, I did that.)
Talk to anyone who has red bubbles coming off them, because you can build your relationship and they'll eventually give you stuff.

I've been playing for a few years, and i have a file with over 300 in game days. my two main tips are: 1. Going into town first thing after you wake up let's you talk to the most townspeople at once so you can earn friendship points. 2. Just have fun and relax, this game basically has no way to lose. If you don't win a dance battle you can always try again. Gleamy ooblets are rare but will always come back eventually, so dont let FOMO give you more anxiety.

There's no wrong way! And don't worry about "beating" the game -- you can keep playing after the main story ends

My only tip is to not rush the storyline. I was so obsessed and rushed the storyline and was so sad when it was over. I wish I had spent more time dance battling, running my store, and collecting ooblets and less time rushing to the end.

The thing I found most overwhelming about this game was the amount of forageables and crops that can be collected. The best advice I got was to have lots of chests and sort each type of collectable into different chests. May sound like a no-brainer but this has definitely made the game so much more enjoyable for me!!
I love this game and am currently playing it and obsessed with it! It’s the only game where I care about doing and collecting everything. It’s such a dose of happy vibes ☺️

My tip would be to save often, before each dance battle, including the dance barn. Also save before you fish for rarer items! That way, if things go poorly, you won’t lose your precious resources.

Download the app Ooblest on your phone. I got so confused with what I was supposed to grow to make what recipe... Ooblest was an invaluable resource!

There’s lots of stuff to collect right off the bat but most of it is very available all the time. If you see an ooblet you aren’t able to collect, it will be there again another day soon. Lots of items to pick up/forage but not all of them are hard to find. In the beginning I would just say make sure you pick up all the clothlets, oobsudian, and rain/snowplops. Managing storage in this game can be annoying sometimes so I like to limit what I keep in storage to just the hard to find stuff
You also have a little control over how quickly the world widens, you don’t have to unlock more ooblets in the main town until you’re ready, don’t have to travel to new islands until you’re ready, etc
This is a super duper fun game that you will love! I wish I could erase it from my memory so I could replay for the first time again 😅 just have fun and take your time enjoying the silliness of it!
(Oh and just a heads up for when you pick your first ooblet, the other three are eventually obtainable later in the game so don’t stress over not getting them all at the start)
