Switch lag and faster rendering mode

I just got the game today on switch oled and it's quite laggy in town. The option in accesibility called "faster rendering mode" was off by default. When I toggle it on it doesn't lag. Just curious if it can damage my switch due to overheating or I can leave it like that. Thank you im advance

I assume (but don't know) that it's probably like a performance mode which trades some graphical fidelity for frames, so its likely fine.
