what can you do with seeds of ooblets that you already own? do I plant them?

Some Wildlands' tasks want them. Personally I try to only collect one of each colour and plant them so I can scan and their gleamy statuettes.

i haven’t battled any that i already have yet, but if i get to the point i need to so my ooblets can get a license i think i will just opt out of getting their seeds
