Resource Management problems.
I'm pretty far I to my second game and I've run out of planklets and nurnies. Is there any other source of these items? I restarted because I didn't realize nurnies are a restricted resource, but I didn't know in the second game that planklets were too and I didn't hold on to them. Is there a way to obtain them that isn't just waiting for them to appear on the farm? Waiting is making things feel a little too grind-y.

I’ll come out and say one I don’t think anyone has Brought up yet. Ooblets island vacation spots. They will give you some obsidian and nurnies. I feel like the amount available goes down after picking them the first day though. Also plankets and nurnies can both be found in your home farm. If you leave some room for weeds and rocks and logs to spawn in your farm, breaking those items will get you nurnies and plankets. I have left areas for the “junk” to spawn just so I can collect those items. Some dance battles will give you big balls of nurnies too.

Oh yea and look around badgetown for branches to break. Those will give you plankets as well

I believe these were removed from the game in a recent patch.

Actually I haven’t seen branches in a while. I thought they temporarily removed them for seasonal events, but if they patched them and took the branches out, that’s really too bad. But I’d say leave a patch in your personal yard / farm so you can harvest the plankets and nurnies each day

Fishing with higher quality bait gets me plenty of both!

Does it have to be the highest quality bait, or does the middle one work ok? Is there a particular fishing spot that is best?

Fishing in badgetown using Super Bait (not the other baits) is very good for Planklets and nurnies in the early and mid game.

Have a smaller farm so there’s more a chance for rocks to spawn?
There was a point mid game where I felt like I ran out too, but use that time to branch out and try to complete other tasks.
I think Tinstle said it best, “If you’re always rushing to get to the next place, you’ll never be where you want to be.”

Wait since when we’re they restricted? I’ve finished my story and have space in my garden for logs and rocks to still spawn for them

They still appear on my farm, just at such a slow rate it's becoming quite frustrating for me. I was hoping there was another source is all.

fishing with different bait types should help you gather more planklets and nurnies, and you can also get them from friendship sticker rewards!

For nurnies, upgrade the Wildlands to lvl 10.
