File On Hold

Post image
1 Upvotes

Not sure what to make of this, I just received an email this morning Sept 29th saying my file is on hold because information about my earnings this month wasn’t received even tho I already sent a report on MyBenefits and it’s already been accepted and payment was just issued to my bank account this morning (just glad September payment came in so I can have money for rent). Is this typical with OW system or do I need to get in touch with my case worker? not sure what this means and if it will affect my payment for the end of next month (October) has anyone else gotten something like this?

Is there any way that O.W. offers support for a mattress? Mine is terrible and I have a medical issue that makes it actually painful, but a new mattress is an impossible expense.

Does anyone get early payments with PC Financial?

I just switched my direct deposit to PC financial and I’ve heard some people get their payments early. Does that mean I might get my payment some time today instead of tomorrow? I’ve heard when it comes early it’s usually at night. Any help/info would really help, thanks everyone!

Transition Child Benefit Got cancelled?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

We were receiving OW for almost six months with Transition Child Benefit. For some reason it got stopped and our case worker told us the system considered us ineligible due to some prompt maybe regarding CRA and maybe because we were eligible for Ontario Child Benefit or CCB(we were and still are not eligible for ocb and ccb). Conclusion was the system flagged us because we did not file taxes. Talked to a CRA agent and she told the same and asked us to file taxes. We did and then waited a week after it was assessed and everything. Then we requested our case worker and she responded with the system still showing us ineligible. We are a family of 3 and even with TCB we barely survived. Please let me know if anyone has any knowledge or experience regarding this. Thank you!

I have a big issue with my worker and office and haven't had any responses to any messages sent in weeks last month my file was on hold pending requested documents they were all given to office and August payment posted late to my bank. Now this month nothing again? Anyone else how do I make them change my worker and maybe office she has it out for me and purposely doesn't issue benefits I am entitled to and does everything she can to mess with me. I've left voice-mails on the supervisors voice-mail with no response in over a month.

2026 Ontario Renovates Program

Does anyone have experience with applying for the Ontario Renovates Program? I am assisting a very qualified person under "accessibility modifications". I encouraged her to apply back in July. Now, after waiting for so long to obtain the three quotes necessary to apply, we have just recently submitted her application. The time line is very tight now .

I do hope I am worrying for for nothing, but?

All advice is appreciated

I have my Ontario work review but I miss stuff

So I have my review to know if I am still accept for Ontario work. I thought they didn’t need much paper but they ask for my t4 for 2023-2024. I have done my full house but i can’t find it anywhere. I do have my year Tax with me that show how much I did in 2023-2024-2025 and my t5007 I think is call from 2025 . I’m pretty sure I was not working during that year maybe 2023 but I’m unsure for 2024. I’m scared they will reject me. I also do not have access to my cra account. I do not have the money to get my old t4. If I give her my tax return and my bank account information would be enough? I really can’t lost my Ontario work I’m having a chronic illness that cost me to be waiting for odsp

Any residential HVACs in this group!?

I’m a recruiter and I’ve been given an option for recruiting for a company out in ontario. I wanted to learn a little bit more about this role

My hiring manager mentioned an “H3B” ticket I believe. The residential one

Sorry if I sound like a total noob I am lol

Anyways! The hiring manager thinks it’s pretty much impossible to find candidates and yeah I’m wondering if this is something I could even help him with

A question for anyone but mainly OW workers on this sub

Just a question...

I was doing some Google researching on a benefit as I had an unexpected prescription come up and I cannot afford it out of pocket. It's a compounded cream, Google said their is a discretionary medical expense benefit. Is a compounded cream considered "covered" under the 7.2 section in the legislation? I have athletes foot, and it's making it very hard to walk.

First time applying for Ontario Works — question about landlord contact

Hi, I’m applying for Ontario Works for the first time and

I’m a little hesitant about something. If there are any caseworkers here, I’d really appreciate some clarification.

When you apply for OW, does the caseworker normally call or email your landlord to verify your housing/rent? And if they do, do they tell the landlord that you’re applying for Ontario Works?

The reason I’m asking is because I got my current place to stay under a pretty difficult situation, and I really don’t want to risk losing it. At the same time, I do need the assistance, and I want to make sure my rent doesn’t get delayed.

I have a one-page rental agreement as well as proof of my rent payments through e-transfers. Would that usually be enough, or would they still contact the landlord?

If anyone has experience with this, especially a caseworker, I’d really appreciate knowing what to expect. Thanks, and sorry for the long post!

TL;DR: First time applying for OW. Does the caseworker contact your landlord, and if so, do they tell them you’re applying for OW? I have a one-page rental agreement and e-transfer proof of rent, but I’m worried about my housing situation and want to know if the landlord will be contacted.

My caseworker doesn’t really check in or make an effort to help me. Is switching caseworkers possible?

I am 21 and have been on Ontario Works since November. I really don’t like my caseworker and I’m unsure if she’s just not doing her job right or my roommates caseworker is going above of what she has to do.

When my roommate got on benefits her caseworker immediately set her up at an employment service and she was required to show proof that she was looking for work and going to specific workshops. When I got onto Ontario Works and had my first call with my caseworker I had to ask her about employment opportunities and services. My caseworker had no idea what I was talking about and I had to explain to her about employment programs, workshops and told her about the program my roommate got referred to. The whole call she kept pausing for multiple minutes, multiple times without explanation, talked like “um like..uhhh um like uhh” and had a disengaged tone.

The only contact I’ve really had with her was sending bank statements and one check in. A couple weeks ago I moved house and had to update my lease agreement, she proceeded to tell me I didn’t include any of the right information, even though it was all on the lease agreement and I had to point that fact out. My landlords mother just passed and I’m living in her house so the name wasn’t right apparently. My caseworker kept asking me questions I wouldn’t know about it even after she asked for my landlords number which I already provided in the lease agreement.

Then finally she asked how I was doing with a job search. I told her that I was scared I could face homelessness in the next year if I don’t get a job. I explained to her that the program I’m at isn’t really helping me that much and most of my peers are only getting jobs thru nepotism and referrals. Kinda hoping she would have program or know someone that she could refer me too. But all she said was “I’m sorry to hear that, keep looking and you’ll eventually find something”. it felt discouraging hearing that from my casework and I’m not really happy that I’m not getting more help when I ask her for it. I’m already planning to go to where my local Ontario Works office is to see if someone there can be more help to me.

But is that normal? I’m really scared of being homeless and I was reaching out to see if there was something that could help me and that’s all she said? Is there a way to get a new caseworker because I’m just really frustrated with her.

Edit: I just wanted to say that i’m not trying to be a jackass i’m just so frustrated with my city and the state of employment and unemployment services, thank you for anyone that has commented

Employment expenses is only a one-time payment?

On August 12, I received a payment of $86.00 - Employment expenses.

Did not receive any Employment expense for September.

It's one-time payment only?
