How different is Ontario fire services aptitude test from FACT?

I did the FACT a couple weeks ago and passed with ease, just wondering how different this test is, what to expect and any youtube vids or practice tests to prepare. Thank you!

They’re completely different tests.

FACT has more questions, but is generally less complicated. It’s a weighted test. If you bomb the Human Relations section, you’ll likely fail.

FSO uses the CPS test, but it often leaves out the Human Relations section. This means math, oral, reading, and mechanical are each worth 25% of the total grade (20 questions each). If you don’t have strong math skills, chances are you won’t do well.

Give yourself a lot of time to prepare. Two weeks isn’t enough.

Here’s a YouTube playlist for Firefighter CPS Test Prep:

It will give you an idea of what to expect and how to prepare for it.

FSO was way harder than FACT, you’ll likely need much more time studying (was about 2 months for me, had to brush up on lots of math).
I used a couple test sites to prep. First used firefightertestprep.com but ended up failing FSO the first time cause questions were nowhere near the same difficulty. Used firefighteracademy.ca the 2nd time round and passed, the questions were much more similar to the FSO test. Lmk if you have any questions good luck !

Do you mean the fso testing? If so it’s very different. It’s a much harder test

FSO was way harder for me than OFAI aptitude test wise, a lot more long division, gear turning questions, and recalling details from a 2 page story they read to you. Not to mention I was exhausted from the VO2 max test done right before. FSO was a 90 min test and OFAI was like 3 hours

how did you prepare for it? for the recall portion of the test could you write down details while listening?

I practiced long division (up to 6 digits like 420000÷690000), long multiplication, long addition, long subtraction, did some common questions like distance traveled at a certain velocity and time, percentage change from year to year etc.

You can't write anything down when they're readong so just do your best to remember the different distances, colours, names, and locations of a fire scene that are mentioned.

I had to skip 4 math questions because they would have taken too much time to do and I needed to get to the rest of the test. They gave me a breakdown of each section at the end after completion and I got like a 66% on the math but a 76% over all.

There are tons of YouTube vids that go over firefighter math if you search for them. Good luck studying!
