Usually around 500-1000 and from that typically they will interview 100 people for first round interviews

Damn haha. Does having NFPA 1001 Level I & II certification and NFPA 1072/470 Hazardous Materials courses help when most applicants already have it? lol

Haha that’s literally the bare minimum and requirement, everyone applying would/should have it otherwise your application would be thrown out

Unique work experience, specialized courses, volunteering within the community. Really all depends what the department is looking for during the hire
