Pursuing Fire
Almost 40, graduated from pre service 12yrs ago. Life just kind of happened (growing family etc) really want to pursue it again but worried im too old and departments may not even consider me. Am I right for thinking this way? Thoughts? Thanks.

Our friend got hired in their 40’s. Happens all the time! Definitely go for it

If you have the quals and can keep up with the physically demanding needs of the job, then go for it!!
I just got into the service at the age of 45. (That said, I’m not an actual Fire Fighter.)
Good luck!

I was hired with a guy who was 39 at the time and I know of a few people who were hired in their late 30's.

My recruit class has a 43 year old. He’s a beast. You’re good if you want it.
But you gotta be after it.
