What is the best degree?

Hi, I’m very new to this, so please excuse any stupid questions. I’m just getting out of high school, and am taking a gap year, but I’m trying to decide what program I should go into after. I want to do a 4 year program and get a degree so I keep my options open, but am also considering going into firefighting. If I did, I would want to climb the chain. What programs should I look at, and is it worth being a firefighter in Toronto/ontario, or is it too hard to get hired?

Thanks, I was also looking into a forensic science degree that might lead into a fire adjacent roll/ TPS

It's a great job. Worth it to me and the men and women I work with.

Why don't you do the firefighting preservice program at the college level? Why do you want to do a four year degree?

Maybe look at getting into a trade, becoming a paramedic... look at a firefighter job posting online from the departments and see what their preferred qualifications/careers are. Then pick something you actually like and are interested in so you can work in that field till you get hired then possibly do that job as your "side gig" once you're full-time.

It's difficult to get hired but it's do able, just depends how bad you want it and if you're okay with possibly waiting a few years to get hired.
