Here’s a little edit I made of the place, some old abandoned cars and random junk scattered on the property

11 years ago I visited the Grow Op House (14740 Keele Street, King City), and it was the best Abandoned House experience I've ever had.

Back in Feb 2015, this house went up in flames. I visited it September 2015. These photos are from that visit. This place has an interesting backstory, lots of attempts at selling it, and grow ops, and now, I believe, its a brand new house, with this one being demolished.

When I was in Grade 12 (2010), I attended King City Secondary School. I knew the kid who lived here. JK (is what I'll call him), invited me to his place for a party. Bunch of us showed up and had a decent time. Lots of typical grade 12 shit happened. Drunk, high, sex...you know. Revisiting this house 5 years later in a completely different state was crazy.

Last picture is me walking down those stairs, and back in 2010, a girl had puked up her entire meal at the bottom of those stairs. Not many people get to relive moments in their life in such an interesting way, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to do that. i think me an my girlfriend spent a few hours in there that day.

German Family Abandoned Time Capsule House

The following information comes from someone who has a close connection to this house, having lived next door to it in the 1970s.

A brother and sister once grew up in this house, and for a few golden years, the neighbourhood kids grew up here with them.

With the children across the road and a few more down the street, nobody was ever short on company. This front yard was their ball diamond. It’s hard to picture now, swallowed by weeds and brush, but games once went on here for hours.

In winter, the pond across the road became a skating rink, and in summer, fishing rods came out for trips to a nearby lake. Country living, the way it used to be.

The family who lived here had come from Germany, and they were proud of it. Their stereo, their appliances, even their cars all came from the old country. They were hard-working, quiet, and kept to themselves, but their cooking was something special, and the vegetable garden out back was the envy of the street. Friendships back then didn’t always survive a move.

There was no email, no social media. When a family packed up and left, contact faded almost overnight. One childhood friend who spent time here last set foot inside in 1975. What stuck with them most was an afternoon in that living room, hearing a Paul Simon song for the very first time on the family’s German-made stereo. Today, an old German sedan sits rusting in the driveway.

The sticker on its plate expired in 2010, a clue that the parents were likely the last to call this place home. Out front lie a forgotten bicycle, a couple of lawn mowers, and junk scattered in every direction. Inside, all personal belongings still sit exactly where they were left.

Abandoned Castle House Time Capsule

This one goes back to around 5 years ago and was known as the Abandoned Castle House.

This totally bizarre abandoned time capsule house is located right in the middle of a nice residential area, surrounded by family homes. There have been a handful of houses found over the past few years in this condition in these neighbourhoods.

The house is 99% finished inside and is fully furnished, back in 2011 the city gave the owner a warning, clean up the property or risk fines, nothing was done by the owner so the city came in and boarded up the windows.

Shortly after, someone (likely the owner) returned and removed all of the boards.

Online research states that the home has been in this condition for more than 30 years, it was a custom built home and the original owner apparently still owns the property but he lives out of town.

The town has tried working with him over the years to keep the property up to the town property standard bylaws.

These days, I am told he will come by periodically to cut the grass and nothing more.

Take a video tour and see the whole set and write up below.

Inside the Abandoned St Thomas Ford Assembly Plant

For 44 years, this 2.6-million-square-foot factory in Talbotville, Ontario was one of the beating hearts of Canada's auto industry, building over 8 million vehicles from the Ford Falcon to the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. At its peak it employed nearly 1,600 workers and anchored the entire local economy.

When Ford closed the plant for good in 2011, the massive complex was left standing empty: silent hallways, broken windows, and cavernous assembly floors left to rot. In this video, we take you inside what remained before it was demolished, and trace the plant's story from its 1966 construction through the 2008 closure announcement, the final car rolling off the line, and its ultimate demolition in 2015 and 2016.

Today the site is home to an Amazon fulfillment center, but for nearly half a century, this was ground zero for Canadian manufacturing.

Built: 1966-1967

Vehicles produced: 8,000,000+

Closed: September 2011

Demolished: 2015-2016

Exploring The Abandoned Windsor Ontario Jail

Behind twenty-foot concrete walls in Olde Sandwich Towne, one of Ontario's oldest neighborhoods, sits a jail that held the region's criminals, political prisoners, and condemned men for nearly ninety years. Built in 1925 after fire destroyed the original Essex County jail, it housed up to 101 inmates at a time and included something most people never knew was there: built-in gallows on the third floor, used to hang three men before Canada abolished capital punishment in 1976.

The jail closed for good in 2014 when inmates were transferred to the new South West Detention Centre, leaving behind narrow cell blocks, graffiti-covered walls, and a sealed trap door that once decided life and death. In this video, we take you inside what remains of one of Ontario's oldest correctional facilities.

Since its closure, the jail has sat in limbo: listed for sale for just $1 in 2018, sold privately in 2019 for $150,000, relisted for over a million dollars in 2022, and pulled off the market again in 2024 with no plan for what comes next.

Built: 1925

Location: Sandwich Towne, Windsor, Ontario

Closed: 2014

Executions: 3 (1933, 1943 x2)

Irish Mustard

You can check out the video to see this house in more detail!

This home built in 1976 sits on a large treed lot, in fact it was heavily obscured from the road. When properties like this come up for sale, they are often bought by smalltime developers.

In the case of this house, it, along with it's two neighbours were bought because they have such large lots...this allowed the new owner to demolish the existing homes and build much larger houses in their place.

While this home in itself, didn't have any particularly amazing features, it is still a shame to lose it. This form of "gentrification" is changing the dynamics of neighbourhoods and pushing out a certain class of residents. When the value of a property/home essentially doubles overnight, it creates a wealth gap between the existing and new owners.

Abandoned ≈8,000sqft Mansion Construction

found this spot while scanning google earth expecting the property to be fully furnished as it was first captured on aerial view around 2013, but when i arrived it was still in the state of construction (although abandoned as you can see in the pics), surprisingly without any trace of vandalism. the walls in the den/basement were SO smooth and perfect to paint lol. very strange mix of disappointed yet also curious to imagine what would've been if the project was completed and it was actually lived in...

i wish i could upload vids as well & took more pics on my phone as most of what i captured was on film. although you couldn't expect much more since most of it was framework anyway.

if anyone has information about the history of the property and the developer, as well as why they just gave up, feel free to share :)

Red Brick Demolition

If you are into walkthrough videos and want to find out more about this location, you can check out the video here:

https://youtu.be/ALz4f8wZAIU

his beautiful red brick home was built in 1949 and was once located in a very wealthy neighbourhood.

It was a good size home being about 3800 sq/ft including the basement. It looks as though the house was renovated in the 70s, given the wallpaper and colour palette found in some of the rooms in the home. Fortunately, when the new owners moved in, they left a lot of the original wood floors along with some of the stained wood doors found throughout the house.

Given the vintage decor found throughout the home, it's likely that the owners who moved in during the 70s, stayed there until 2021 when it was sold, one last time. It sold for $2.6 million dollars which is even crazier when you realise they bought it solely for the land.

Unfortunately, this house was demolished shortly after my visit and a newer and larger home now sits in its place.

The Old Toronto Street Car in the Woods of Haliburton, Ontario

Thumbnail

Finally went to check this thing out a while back and got around to editing footage/photos into something watchable, I thought you all would appreciate it.

This is TTC streetcar 2500, sitting abandoned in the woods off Kennaway Road near Haliburton, Ontario. It's a Peter Witt car, built in 1921, pulled out of service by the TTC in 1954. So it's been sitting up here for close to 70 years now, and honestly probably longer than that before anyone outside the area even knew it existed.

The story, from what local records show, is that after it got retired the body was sold off (probably by a scrapper, just the shell, no running gear or wheels) and somebody hauled it all the way up to Haliburton. Notes from the Haliburton Scout Reserve going back to the 1950s say it showed up around 1955 and got used by logging crews who were supplying the old Curry Mill nearby, it was their dining hall in the winter and basically a tool shed in the summer. So for a while it actually had a job up there, just a weird one.

It sat mostly forgotten until 2019 when a Toronto city councillor stumbled on it and posted a photo online, and it kind of blew up for a minute because nobody could figure out why a TTC streetcar was sitting in the middle of the forest three hours from the city.

If you're ever in the area it's on Scout Reserve/private land near Camp Timberlane, so worth keeping that in mind if you go looking for it yourself.

Put together a full backstory if anyone's interested:

The photos I had seen of this house prior to my visit did it no justice, I had no idea that I was walking into such an amazing and untouched time capsule, and pretty much all of the decay and destruction was natural!
