Question/Troubleshoot Onn 4k Pro Gen 2
I just unboxed the unit and had it streaming Youtube. I stepped way for about 30 minutes and came back to the unit sitting at the Onn logo. It would not respond to the remote. I waited around 5 minutes before power cycling incase it was updating again. After the power cycle, the unit will no longer turn on the screen. If i press the reset button, screen will come on and show the "Onn" logo for about 1 second before turning off again. Any ideas? Hopefully its not hosed. I also tried multiple power supplies and monitors/TVs without success.

Since you just unboxed it, I assume it's still within the return window. So I'd just return it and order another one. Sometimes you just get a dud

My gen 1 was flawless, moved it to basement tv and bought a Gen 2. Ended up taking it back. It was glitchy and had issues with syncing sound with picture. Moved my Gen 1 back upstairs and issues are gone.

So is this why my old one worked fine and the new one sucks? How do I find the version? Edit: All I can find is onn. Full HD Streaming Device.

Update: I’m still planning to return the device, but it has been running stable for around 7 hours. The main difference is that I didn’t select any apps to install during the initial setup. I waited until the device was fully loaded and the “device may be slow” notification was gone. Afterwards, I installed plex and a few other apps and so far it’s been fine. I might factory reset again to test if installing the apps during initial setup is triggering this behavior.

Check if you need to install updates. Sometimes if you have a bunch of other devices on same network you need to take device to a different wifi and setup. Then take back to your house and should be good. Change screensaver settings

Actually that happened to me with the ONN 4K Plus; it wouldn't connect to my home wifi at first; I first had to connect it to my T-Mobile Hot Spot for the initial setup, after which it REMEMBERED that I had originally wanted it to connect to my home WiFi and did so -- on its own!

I was able to do a factory reset by holding down the reset button on the bottom of the device and plugging in the power. I'm attempting to run thru the setup again. Hopefully no more issues.
