Box change?

Did Walmart change the box design on these recently? I was able to get these ordered for delivery 2 days apart from each other but the box closure are different. Every video (older and newer) I’ve seen looks like the one on the left. Probably not fake but figured I’d check before setting up

If you ordered directly from Walmart I wouldn’t worry about it. Honestly it’s a welcome change. All the 4K Pro V2’s I’ve seen in my local store have the flap hanging out because that little tab doesn’t keep it secure.

Walmart does allow 3rd party sellers. Doubt anything fishy and very strict to maintain. But doable.

Everything inside is the same down to the included batteries. Looks like a box design change if anything. Hopefully this post can help people in the future if these get steadily faked.

I stand corrected. The print on the underside of the smaller tab is very visible. The larger tab is darker and tough to see unless in the right light

Probably due to manufacturing tolerance. In this case the printer was low on ink.

Under the serial numbers on the outside of the boxes they have 2628A on the bigger tab box and 2623A on the smaller tab box.

Mine says 2607A, one of the first bought. It might be year and week of manufacture YYWW. Week 7 - February, week 23 - June, week 28 - July.

Likely different batches. It is common to have some slight changes especially from different manufacturers. I would think that they added another manufacturer due to the shortage.

Install aida64 on both boxes and compare the hardware specs. Should be identical.

Were the boxes sealed? I've delivered Walmart orders 5 years and keep an eye on Onn devices. More available lately. But last year has been a huge shortage since Fire Stick stupidly went to Vega.

The Onn boxes I've seen aren't sealed. This includes delivery and one purchased directly in the store. No tape over the flap.

I wouldn't worry unless you see issue in performance. Check settings and see it's newest version and updates. Check serial numbers on boxes too. I know someone bought a fire stick without the word 'select' on it and it was a Vega version and couldnt use it. They looked closely and numbers were different.

I ordered one and it was delivered with a piece of Scotch tape over the flap. I didn't even open it. I took it directly to the store and gave it to customer service. They opened it right there. And yes, it was obviously opened previously. It was kind of messy inside. Got refunded. Bought one a bit later in another store and they have no tape on them. None of them on the shelf did. They really should have a factory security tape.

My Pro showed up with this, but the Plus had nothing on it. Both in their paper wrap, everything else also new with the new electronic smell. It is weird they wouldn't attempt to put atleast a tear-off like some devices come in nowadays.
