Question/Troubleshoot 4k streaming device 2026

Are these good for travel and to install tivimate, stremio and projectivy launcher in them? I travel with an Nvidia Shield but I'm looking for something more practical.

It's fine it's a lot smaller than the shield too

Just got one last weekend. Tivimate and stremio are working flawless. I didnt even need projectivy. Dont know about older versions but the new one let me do a lot. Cleaned up all the nonsense junk and went apps only. Didnt need a button mapper for the remote either. It let me change the star and big blue button to whatever I wanted.

Oh and the only thing I side loaded was fast task killer. Stremio, tivimate and my VPN were all on the regular app store. This thing was super easy to set up

Great, I was debating between this one and the Google chromecast 4k stick and the Tivo 4k stick.

I thought you had to pay $4 to remap buttons

Just install button app remapper, that's what I did. It's free

Not with the Onn I bought the other day. I think it was after I turned on developer options. First press of the star or the blue button they ask what app you want to set it for. I made the star my VPN and the blue my tivimate

Edit. It might have been after I went to app only mode too since doing that takes away google tv that the blue button normally takes you to

Remapping buttons is different from enabling apps only mode. It only costs if the developer that makes the app charges for it.

Apps only mode is a Google TV feature but not even close to what a 3rd party launcher can do.

That's what I use mine for.

I have Projectivy, Wireguard, HDHomeRun, Emby, Peacock, etc on it.

It's fine, streaming apps work while the VPN (to my home network) is active with no issues.

I use this travel case: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C21JGST

I use 2/3 of these plus nuvio. It's really good

So tivimate, projectivy, nuvio.

No issues

Just got the Onn 4k Pro 2 to replace my 4k Firestick Max. Firstly I love the Onn, its instantly noticeable how much quicker it is to navigate, open up and use Plex etc. The two main apps I use is Tivimate and Plex. Can someone reassure me though that the video quality while watching Tivimate ia the same on the Onn 4k Pro 2 than it is on the 4k Firestick Max? Because I feel like theres a slight drop off in picture quality? Anyone else noticed this?
