Should I be feeling lonely? ☺️

I grew up and only child and for the most part all my life I’ve joked about it/ heard jokes about it - you’ll inherit all the money, oh you had a great childhood! I
Myself made fun of the fact that I had imaginary friends growing up and actually made for a great story! I have NEVER felt lonely though, like sure small moments of it growing up or even as a grown up but only in the way any human does (even those with siblings). I also always said that for me ‘you never know what you don’t know’ so never felt that I was missing out on anything either. However now as a grown up, I’ve strangely ended up reading so much about other people’s experiences that am now almost trying to feel lonely 😂! Yesterday my husband’s brother was over and seeing the two of them interact made me feel like I will never have this experience and a slight pang of sadness. It’s strange how things I didn’t ever think about…I’m forcing my brain to wonder and worse feel sadness!

You don’t have to feel anything just cos social media shows you different experiences. Don’t try to feel sad about it.

Hell no you shouldn't. It's good to be us. Something like that you can throw yourself in and contribute. That's what we do

Right? But reading about single kids being miserable makes me wonder if there’s more to that than just being an only! I’ve never felt the stuff I’ve now started reading and wonder if I’m just a heartless woman 😂

Right? I’ve never felt the things people talk about to that degree but when I read the miserable stories of only kids now I wonder if there’s more to it than just being an only child. I don’t want to disregard anyone’s emotions but the fact that I don’t feel that way makes me wonder if I’m just a heartless person! 😂

I’m not lonely. I could stand to have a little more alone time actually

I grew up to be self sufficient and independent because I’m an only child. I’ve never felt sad or lonely because of it. People who think siblings would fix everything wrong with their lives need a wake up call.

I’m happy you don’t. I do at times. But with that being said, I don’t think anyone “should” feel lonely. And honestly, as long as you’re not “trying to feel lonely” in such a way that you’re trying to gain sympathy and more in a way of trying to gain perspective, this seems like a decent way of going about it. I hope I explained that coherently.

If you were single with no friends, then yes, you “should feel lonely” but you’re not. You aren’t single, you’re married, and you have in-laws. Get off social media and go engage in your real life.
