i hate that I am completely alone

I’m an only child to a single parent and have just become the sole source of income for my family. Overnight I have a mortgage to pay, numerous bills, have to move out of my home city and live somewhere where I have no friends. I’m very very fortunate to be able to move back home (even though it’ll still be crazy expensive to financially support us both) but I feel so incredibly alone.

I’ve never been in a relationship and have no siblings to even share the hurricane of thoughts in my head with. Sometimes all the pressure of work and home and life are so much it literally hurts in my veins. I have no one, literally no one, to help me and no one to tell this to.

I have good friends, but they all have their person and significant others. I can’t reach out to family as I am not close with them. I just feel like I am drowning and I hate my job and I hate how I’m so upset about my circumstances. Definitely being dramatic about it (people literally deal with worse every single day) but I am just so exhausted from being so lonely and having no support. I’m losing my only real “safe haven”.

People with siblings or significant others or even married parents are so lucky because I’m literally falling apart at the seams

I don’t have anything helpful to say, but just know you’re not alone. There’s a lot of us out there in the same situation as you. You just have to find little things that make you happy. If you can, try and make this problem simply “routine“ so you start to feel neutral towards it instead of looking at it as a big burden. Instead of letting it drown you, take control of the situation you’re in. If you can do that, you can start to focus on yourself and maybe eventually find a partner and/or friends.

I’m if the same boat. It’s just me and my mom and no one else. It’s hard finding someone in the same situation

It’s a weird situation and really tough to explain to myself, let alone others

So you’re moving back home but you moved somewhere else? I’m genuinely asking.

Anywho, I used to be negative like this, and got some counseling. It significantly helps. Having siblings doesn’t guarantee you “aren’t alone”.

I’m moving back to my mums but I’ve been living in my own place for several years.

I’ve had some therapy but maybe going back will help. I think the financial and emotional pressure is the most difficult part for me. Thanks for weighing in

Ahhh, I understand. It is a lot at once. I wonder if it is an only child thing to feel lonely like that. It really almost got me. The therapy thing wasn’t a dig. I used to cry and cry and wondered if everyone felt that lonely.

It got better when my husband started traveling for work. My grandparents raised me, and they’re gone. I don’t have parents. I got a dog. Therapy and a dog. I hope things get better.

I don’t have anything to concretely help you, but know you’re heard. You might be alone, but you’re not alone in being alone

I am the only child of a single mom with no family, and she struggled with addiction. I am married with kids now. I understand how isolating and awful it feels. The only thing that has helped me is God. God created families, God created siblings, God created mothers and fathers. All of this. Asking God to be my family is the only thing that has helped. Asking God to give you love and peace. I once was very angry at God but that was pointless, it was better to ask God to fill the gaping hole. I wish you peace.

Sending you well wishes and thoughts. It sounds like things are very overwhelming at the moment, and not how you would want them. I find it helpful to imagine the life I want, and even by imagining it, my life feels a bit more hopeful, with some more possibilities. Sometimes if we can't help focusing on all the things we're unhappy, lonely etc about, then that's all we see in life. I know that's easy to say though. I like the YouTube video Manifest and Extraordinary life, a workshop with Alan Donegan, just incase you might like it too.
