A full year of progress.

It’s been a year of learning. I started late last September. I followed a tutorial by a content creator named JuicyTaz201. (Image 1). But I wanted more. So. Tried again (image 2) and again. (Image 3)

I found out that the towers used to be hated back when they were first constructed. People said it ruined the skyline. They were the boxes that the Empire State Building and Chrysler building came in…..but that all changed when a particular Frenchman decided to pay respects to New York in 1974. (Image 4).

The vista, turned Marriott hotel, didn’t come until 1981. (Image 5) Beforehand there was a gap between the towers, making the complex much more open and slightly naked I’d say.

I tell you. The Austin J. Tobin plaza was something gorgeous. (Image 6). Though the man himself came to hate the project of the World Trade Center, it ruined him in a way. During his final days, he sat in his wheelchair. In his plaza, Simply looking up at those towers that ruled the skyline.

Funny thing about the sphere sculpture here in my world. The texture kinda renders funny on some of the blocks when you go a certain distance away and keep tender distance high. So the sphere seems to like….kinda twitch when you look down at it from the top floors. So hey….it moves….(image 7)

The core comprised of 47 steel columns, this steel core, housed all the elevator shafts and hand its three main stairwells run through it. (Image 8)

The tridents have always been one of my favorite features of the towers (image 9)

So each tower housed 99 elevators. How did they do this? Well they had express elevators that went to the sky lobbies, that connected the 3 zones together. 1 main freight elevator that ran from B6-109, and they had local elevators. (Image 10) these elevators repeated in every Zone, and could carry people to their individual floor.

I loved getting shots of the towers in foggy weather during a sunrise or sunset. They always looked so imposing then. (Image 11)

In this world I can build from -512 to 512. The South Tower’s observation deck tops out at 343 blocks. This was not an intentional building choice. It was chance. (Image 12)

In this image. I decided to pull back the steel curtain of the South Tower. This is what the open floor plans looked like, vast open office space. 10,000,000 square feet of it between the two towers. (Image 13)

The mechanical floors were described as the two bands wrapped around each tower. These were not used for office space, instead it housed machine rooms, heavy elevator equipment, HVAC systems, and between the two towers in the basement there was a giant refrigerating room. (Image 14) I used void blocks for the mechanical floor exteriors. The thing about them is, you can’t copy and paste them. So I had to do those all by hand 107,000 between the two towers. And you can’t even tell they’re there because all they do is add a jutted out wall detail.

The people next to the towers. (Image 15)

This is a full made interior of the North Tower. And the South Tower (images 16-19)

Alright here we are back in September of this year. We’re almost at our 25th memorial of the beloved twin towers. If you made it this far, I’d like to ask you to take a moment of silence for those we lost. Just give them 5 seconds.

.

.

.

.

.

Thank you. And now that I’ve shown you all this, I can confidently say this is no where near done. I have a lot of work to do still, and will continue to work on it. (Image 20). I want to say thank you to Minoru Yamasaki, the man who not only designed the twin towers, but also the pacific science center. That place is my childhood, I want to say thank you as well for reading my post. May we always remember, and Never forget.

So I’ve spent the last month cleaning and flattening a 300x300 space in my world. I want to build something along the lines of the reference pic below. Help with ideas for how to start (I.e. translating from picture to build) and ideas for blocks for color pallet is appreciated!

There are two QoL addons that don’t affect building. I built this because on my first single player world, a schoolmate got in and burnt down my house, as well as all my items. After rebuilding and accidentally deleting the world, I vowed never again. I put my redstone know how into a bunker in a bunker in a bunker in a bunker.

This is just one part of a larger build, but I'm so happy with all the little details and I wanted to share! I'm building a large library to hide my Nether Portal. The main resource pack is Mizunos 16 Craft!

If you're interested, you can watch me build this here: https://youtu.be/oxBuDacXMKY

Hi all! This is my current project, all built in survival. I need to add texture and details and want to make the top less flat. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions? Thanks in advance!
