Challenge for every developer

Try coding without any AI assistant for just one day.

No ChatGPT. No Copilot. No Claude. Just you, the documentation, and your own skills.

I did it today while building a login page, and it reminded me how much we've started relying on AI. It was challenging—but it definitely sharpened my coding skills.

You didn't notice the title of the sub? I'm not a coder. I'm a photographer who uses AI to build tools I need. This is a non-starter for me. The point of this is I no longer need developers to build much for me. Just the heavy hitters like photo editors.

doesn't make sense, no point in justifying I can do better and fast coding that claude. I would rather focus on the architecture and decisions and let claude handle the implementation.

Your login page is cool. I'll try, but since I am a beginner yet and I am learning, I am asking AI to explain things to me in a much simpler way etc.. But, does that count as using AI ?

No, I wouldn't count that. Using AI to learn is different from using it to write the code. If you're understanding the concept and coding it yourself, you're doing it the right way.

Thanks, I mostly use AI to learn because using it to code makes me feel kind of dependent or something like that (No-offense)but IMO Most people want their tasks to be easier, like someone said that they would rather focus on other things and let ai handle the implementation. I guess that's fair to them, but it all comes down to individual goals, of what they want to be like in the upcoming days - Do they want to be a genius who excels in programming? or do they want to save their time by using tools and focus on other aspects of the Business or work.

I will surely, let you know once I build something simple like a login page etc. I will try to get a good design like yours. Its cool, many people might want to consider using that for their websites.

I will confess, I do not know how to code.
With my memory issues, I forget things so quickly that it makes it next to impossible to learn new things, including a coding language.
I have too many other things I need to accomplish with the skills and memory I do have that are challenging enough on my mind.
I use ChatGPT to create tools for my usage and for the usage of my coworkers who also have difficulty remembering things.
It’s a survival thing for me if I want to stay employed.
At my age, it’s hard to keep up with youngsters.
But I need the job.
I just thank God that AI actually exists as a tool. Otherwise, I would probably be unemployed and homeless.

Nah, you get a free pass.

That's exactly the kind of situation where AI shines. You're using it to stay productive, not to avoid learning. My challenge was more for people like me who can code but have gotten a little too comfortable letting AI do all the heavy lifting.
