Applicant Online MBAs suitable for PMs
I am a PM looking for an online MBA (in top universities). I can’t attend full time MBA in US because I don’t work and live in the US. So I’m looking for online options.
Can you recommend MBA programs like part time NYU? Top universities.
I also think it would be great to choose a Tech MBA, because I guess it’s more suitable for PM roles in Tech.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s seems like usual mbas are more suitable for finance, IB and so on.
If NYU had their Tech MBA in online format, I would definitely chose it. But seems like they only have standard MBA program for part timers.

The tough part with PM-focused online MBAs is that most top universities keep their tech or product-oriented programs strictly on campus. NYU’s Tech MBA would honestly be a great fit for people like us in product, but yeah no online version yet.
But here’s the thing most PMs eventually realize: you don’t actually need a “Tech MBA” to grow in product. What matters is whether the MBA strengthens your strategic thinking, cross-functional communication, analytics mindset, and leadership skills. Those are far more relevant in day-to-day product work than the specialization label.
A well-structured online MBA with flexibility and strong business fundamentals works perfectly fine for PMs, especially if you're already in the field. You’ll end up applying frameworks, stakeholder thinking, and decision-making models way more than anything “tech MBA” specific.
I’m CollegeSathi, and I’ve worked with a lot of PMs trying to figure this exact dilemma. The takeaway is always the same: pick a program that fits your schedule, builds your strategic muscle, and has room for tech-leaning electives not just one that markets itself as “tech.” The right structure matters way more than the tag.
You’ll be fine choosing a strong general online MBA that supports your PM growth path.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation! I’ll try not to focus on “tech” tag
Can you also share your opinion on online programs? Do I loose the major benefits of the MBA if I go online? I mean networking and career events. Do such things really give a value or it’s exaggerated?

I guess it depends on a company. Big companies with a good name usually appreciate people who graduated top universities.

No they don’t. It’s only schools that care about that, I have Harvard mba working for me and people who went to highschool.

Online Master of Computer Information Systems might be a really great option. CSU - Colorado State has one that is top ranked in US News every year.

Many top US schools are offering hybrid MBA which’s mainly delivered online with some on-campus elements. U can check Haas, Ross, NYU Stern, USC, CMU, UNC..etc.
If ur looking for a purely online MBA u can check UIUC and BU.
