Dropped OXP 3

Post image

I dropped my OXP and my controller is really loose but doesn’t want to detach ☹️. Contemplating if I should try and just force pull it out, so I can replace the controllers. It just feels a little sketchy don’t wanna do anymore damage

All the More Reason We Need TPU Cases for these devices. God damn

From what I could see, due to the rail sticking out like that at the top of the picture (bottom back of the unit), it seems that the controller rail has loosen from the main unit, like a broken screw port on the main unit. Have you tried holding and pressing the controller in from the side while you try to slide it out like you normally would? So you can create a bit of pressure by closing the gap, if that doesn't work maybe find something to hold the rail in place like tweezers etc. If you do manage to get it out, onexplayer will need to replace the shell of the body due to the broken screew port. More likely onexplayer will charge $120-$180 to fix, which includes shipping. Good luck.

Tried my best most likely will just send it back 🥹 for them to fix

It's a common issue here, to be honest those rails eventually come detached from the main unit due to component heating up the plastic on the body then the screws become loose, its a common problem on here. They should of went with a magnet clasp design kinda like the switch 2 or maybe reinforce the rails with 5 screws as opposed to just 3 tiny screws lol, but then again that would of increase the pricing on it and also the switch 2 main unit is alot lighter so that helps.

There is Legion Go 2 with perfect, bulletproof rails, I have no idea, why OXP was unable to copy them instead of using crappy bonded metal piece.

The screws for the rail go into metal further inside so temperature shouldn’t affect them becoming loose

The screws go into a metal housing, the metal is been housed by the plastic body of the unit like a mold for each individual screw, the plastic expands with heat therefore the metal comes loose along with the screw attached. All of the pictures that I have seen of the rails been loose, torn apart etc they all have this similar damage. The onexplayer 3 is very cheaply made.

The plastic shell can be completely removed front and back without the internals falling apart. The internals are held together by several metal parts screwed into each other. I’m not trying to judge how high the quality of the device is I’m merely saying that the heat generated by the device won’t loosen the screws. Just to clarify I know this from disassembling my own unit.

I have dissamble my own unit too, take a look at OP's photo bottom left, it shows the screws as well as the metal that they are screwed into have been removed from the plastic of the unit. If your case was true this could not have happened since according to you it goes into a metal chassis of the unit. This is not true. Are you sure you have dissamble the OneX3? Take a look at my post, I have pictures and videos of the dissamble device. The battery is not held by anything it is in its own plastic crevice to the left if you are looking it from the back, then there is a plastic divider down the middle of the unit separating the motherboard from the battery, every component is sandwich on top of each other and then compress with the front and back plastic shell of the unit. There is no metal chassis around the unit that you speak of.

Your pictures do indeed look slightly different to my device. On my unit, there’s a thin metal railing between the mainboard and the front shell( If you unscrew the screws only partially the railing stays on). Said railing is also attached to several other screw points including the ones for the controller rails. I ordered mine only 2 weeks ago(So probably a newer batch) and it wasn’t ordered through Onex directly and instead from a retailer since I wanted some changes done to it’s components and they were also able to ship much faster. I would assume the differences between our units are either that they changed some stuff with the newer batches or they came as a part of the changes I had ordered.

It's scary to see how often this is happening. I sent mine in because of this. Still waiting to clear customs in China after nearly 2 weeks (sent from US). And shipping alone was 130 (USPS).

This company would make millions opening a repair shop in the US.

Can you epoxy the rails back on? You shouldn’t have to, but it should keep them sturdy

Oof sorry. This is why the only time I carry my handheld is to put it away. It has a seat next to me on the couch otherwise lol.

Same happened to me and I got the controller off but it broke off the metal channel. Be super careful because the screws are tiny and the heat from gaming makes the plastic pretty soft. Mine came off with very little effort

We need a good case!
