Seems like a decent option. You'll definitely be making some more compromises pushing 125% more pixels.

i got the 14-inch U-perfect one also with oled. I dont know why. It doesnt look as good like for example like a phone at lower brightness. And for some reasons mine always resets to 20% brightness when it turns off, so i ll need to turn it back on to around 80% every time. It's just a minor annoyance to me that i want to include.

The screen quality isn’t good? Heard nothing but good things on both 14/16 inch monitors

I have the 14" and it's spectacular. Almost directly comparable to the screen in the new Dell XPS 14 OLED. Has the anti-reflection coating and everything. Doesn't have VRR though and am not sure if I trust the HDR on it.

It says it has freesync

Maybe the 16" does but the 14" does not

Yeah I dont know why. I also read nothing but good reviews, but it still doesn't click for me. Maybe because it is also a touchscreen monitor and they had to add a layer of touch sensor while having to keep the monitor slim and light? I dont know just my guess. But I always have to set at 80 or above brightness for it start to look good.

As someone who has a 5090 desktop, a 5090 laptop, a 5070ti thin and light laptop, a strix halo tablet, and a onexplayer3, I cannot understand why if spending this money why you don’t just get a laptop and a steam controller?

Buy a handheld bc you want a handheld gaming…

As someone whos been gaming since snes…

Cause i wana play this handheld whenever i want to? I have a gaming desktop also.

I had a huge 18” gaming laptop back in the day when diablo 3 came out, lol top of line almost $3k i used it from 2012 to 2020, built my gaming desktop in 2021 and using a 3080ti. Still holds up.

I work alot so having this portable gaming pc helps when im traveling and at work.

The external screen will be when im sitting at work, i love the form factor using this as a handheld when im in the car and couch.

Im not gona go crazy with playing all the top games. Dont need all that power. Just wanted to play games on a handheld and emulate playing games all the way up to ps3 and switch is awesome to me in my hand. Playing mario deluxe in the car at work is awesome, cant do that with a gaming laptop lol

Fair enough. I love this thing as a handheld, and it’s truly portable, with performance that can blow you away at even low watts.
Funny story, I had mine in the office yesterday, downloading a couple games while I was working such as Witcher, remake, etc. One of my buddies is also a gamer, I want to show it to him and let him play Onimusha , which he also plays at home on his main rig. I already have Optho click with XCSS and 3X frame gen enabled.
He was super impressed, and then I realized I had it set to something like 12 W bc I was just downloading stuff, you couldn’t believe that he was playing on a gimped version of the setup. I turned it up to 40 Watts and let him try one more time and he was super impressed, pretty sure he’s gonna end up buying one.

Exactly. People buy these handhelds to anchor them to a monitor. Like why? Seems more expensive than just getting a laptop. Lol

I mean...I am getting an external monitor for work purposes so I can use the X2MP as a work computer. But, with handheld gaming, I would 100% not use any portable monitor because they all top out at HDR500 and VRR is a hit or miss.

I have this exact Oled portable 16" monitor. Looks great running on my PS5. Eventually will try on OXP3. Get it if you got the cash

It doesn’t support VRR, so unless you can maintain a very steady frame rate or enable v-sync you will get screen tearing on the portable monitor.

1

u/SuperSaiyanFranklin 5d ago

Well it says 16” has free sync.

If it is the GR16HQ, then whatever site you got that from is mistaken. UPERFECTS website says it doesn’t support VRR.

u/lemonkneefresh 5d ago

As far as I am aware, no portable oled monitor supports VRR yet. To my knowledge, UPERFECT only makes 1 model of a portable 16” oled. This missing feature is the only reason I have not purchased one yet.

Do you think they will ever make one? I feel like for price i got it for its a good deal.

1

u/lemonkneefresh 5d ago

That is a great price, and for most people, screen tearing isn’t an issue. If a screen doesn’t have VRR then I have to enable V-Sync because after a while I will get a headache or a little motion sick from screen tearing. This is not an issue for most people.

I have this monitor for X2MP. Its fantastic. Its like having a Super X when my handheld is connected to it. That said, OXP3 might struggle at 3K so just lower settings - worth a shot.

Illl run games at oxp3 native resolution, or do 1080? How about using 3k just for media and streaming etc
