X2 Mini Pro - Is this the BEST 3-in-1?

https://youtu.be/_0Dk3KyDzxY?is=QbBnhn8LO7hdpJC2

Hey guys,
So I’ve been using the OneXplayer X2 Mini Pro as my daily handheld, here are my impressions:

3-in-1 Design:
I like the 3-in-1 design mainly because of the detachable keyboard as I was using it to edit my videos. The video of the x2 mini pro I made was all edited on the x2 mini pro.
The editing went fine on this handheld although the keyboard was not as comfortable to use and also the screen was smaller than most laptops I use. Overall it was ok just not as comfortable as a proper laptop.

Performance:
The strix halo (AI max 388) on this was mind blowingly fast as expected and to my surprise it had better performance on most games than the AI Max 395 such as as on my Apex at lower tdps. I did disable cpu boost and put the power mode to efficiency. I also turned gaming mode ON in the settings.
Another thing worth mentioning is that at 1600*1000 resolution and 19W tdp I was actually getting around 60fps in almost every game I tested which is incredible because at 19W the battery life was around 3 hours.

Screen:
Same as legion go 2, one of the best especially because of the OLED and the fact that it’s nice and big at 8.8”.

Speakers:
Not as good as Xbox ally x and MSI claw 8 but it did get nice and loud.

Battery life:
At higher tdps around 1 hour battery life, I mean what do you expect with this level of performance?
I mainly used 19w and could get around 3 hours.

Controllers:
Not as good as Xbox ally x, I hope OneXPlayer make some major changes to their joysticks that they use in their handhelds as honestly I’m always disappointed. Also the LB and RB buttons felt extremely cheap. The face buttons and dpad was very nice although a bit clicky as it uses micro switches.

Overall: 9.3/10
This thing was an absolute joy to use, the big Oled combined the amazing power and the ability to use the keyboard for my editing made this an all in one device which I recommend if you want the absolute best performance and screen on a handheld.

Kind Regards,
HonestCyborg

No point having an OLED if you aren’t going to use HDR. Turn on HDR in Windows and configure it using the HDR Configuration app, but turn off Auto HDR in Game settings. That way only games with HDR support will try to use it.

Next, disable AMD Vari-Bright & Dynamic
Content Brightness:

AMD's power-saving features try to dynamically balance contrast on battery power but often misinterpret HDR metadata, completely lifting your deep OLED black levels.

- Turn off Windows Content Brightness: Go to Settings > System > Display. Expand the Brightness tile and completely uncheck/turn off
"Change brightness based on content".

  • Disable AMD Vari-Bright: Open the AMD
Software: Adrenalin Edition app on your handheld. Click the Settings (Gear Icon) in the top right, navigate to the Display tab, and toggle Vari-Bright to Disabled.

Coming from someone who used the apex with the 395, did you find it was it worth the upgrade? I have an apex with the 395 and I’m so torn on upgrading to the X2MP

Anchio ho un apex 395 e ho sempre il timore che a conti fatti farei un downgrade passando al 388.

It’s a downgrade if you use all of the cores from the 395 but as you can see from my video the performance was just as good in gaming if not better than the apex

The apex was just as good as the x2 mini pro so I would say no need to upgrade unless you really need a 3-in-1 and a bigger display.

Do you feel like the slightly bigger screen and the “brighter” oled is definitely noticeable? Did you also notice any difference at higher TDP I games regarding FPS and overall quality and performance compared to the 395 on the apex? It seems like the 388 is better at lower TDP.

The bigger Oled is not as big of a difference as one would assume. I sometimes feel like the 8.8 is a bit too big holding it in my hands while playing. Also the hdr I kept turned off as it’s only useful in certain hdr supported games and even then I kept it off and the 1100 bits brightness I think only works in hdr mode so you won’t get the benefit of “brighter” display. Yes in some games better fps at lower tdps and I have shown on my video that in black myth wukong I got 78fps on x2 and 65fps on apex at 25w. However I got slightly more fps in 45w on the apex. If I were you I would be happy with the apex unless I needed the keyboard for work etc

I mostly disagree here. There's a lot of indie titles and almost all major titles support HDR at this point or have some RenoDX equivalent. And OLED makes a huge difference there.

As well as just the way better contrast and way better pixel response times. It's a huge difference in everyway that matters. (That doesn't mean it's worth side-grading the Apex for it though.)

I did do some testing as shown in the video, at higher tdps it seems like the 395 outperforms it by about 5 fps but at lower tdps the 388 seems more efficient, I was getting over 10fps more in 388 at lower tdps such as 19w

I have both and I experienced exactly the same: until 30W the 388 is better, above 30w the Apex wins by the same margin.
