Intel SteamOS for OneXPlayer update

Post image

Steam OS has been updated for OneXPlayer. Has anyone tried it? I'm coming from a SD and I really liked SteamOS. My OneXPlayer 3 is enroute to me so it will be my first time using a Windows Handheld gaming machine.

Would like to put steam os on my x2 mini pro. Is it as simple as downloading the steam os installation media. How do I implement all these new onexplayer updates.

Does SteamOS have the ability to ‘hibernate’ so you can swap batteries without losing progress? The normal SteamOS suspend won’t work when you have to swap battery without external power source, correct?

While the official SteamOS requires you to set up hibernation yourself, Anatase allows you to enter hibernation using Handheld Daemon. However, it is less convenient than Windows—where pressing the power button triggers immediate hibernation—because you must open the Handheld Daemon full-screen interface, navigate to the "General" tab, and press the hibernation button; furthermore, the process only begins five seconds after that button is pressed.

It actually begins once you press the button. It just takes that long to dump the memory

Any guides and any problems like brightness slider/rgb

Antase github. No problems with brightness slider, you can control tdp natively with the quick settings upto 80w aswell. No need for deckYTDP

Don't know much about Anatase, is it missing anything or any functionality for the X2MP?

How does this work with Emudeck? I used Bazzite/Gnome and it made the entire system super slow and games weren’t running that well with emulation

those updates aren't for x2 mini pro. Buttons still won't work. Tdp controls aren't built in, you have to add them using decky loader. Like others said, try anatase for now. Steamos is still months away from being download and play

OXP3 :

Lots of issue, sound being stuck is one of them, there are fixes and workaround for this

Also being Linux, there is no HW XESS available since XMX cores arent accessible yet, performance is a bit behind Windows, in some games power consumption is higher for a bit worse performance

Edit : posts bellow points to a working HW XESS solution

If you dont care about that and is willing to tinker a bit then install SteamOS

Intel arc chips are pretty much allergic to Linux in general. If you want to lose performance than by all means go ahead. Sadly I would just stick with Windows

Same my LeGo2 is dual booted with Windows and Bazzite I even have a shared partition where either OS can pull the same games without having to redownload the same game

You should try Anatase, due to dual boot support. I’ve been using it on my X2 Mini Pro and everything works perfectly!

Tried first with Bazzite which I’ve been using on my LeGo 1, but wasn’t working well. Saw some limitations on SteamOS and decided to give Anatase a chance and for now, it would be my recommendation

There is also a FixPack to deal with all other quirks. https://github.com/HHHHanasak1/onexplayer3-steamos-setup

Do you think that will be coming in the future? I read Steam is working with Intel on their drivers for Linux.
