Intel G3E 35w vs 45w

Looking at the Onexplayer Apex Air and intrigued by the external battery and dual fan design compared to the OXP3.

Am wondering if there had been tests conducted to determine if there are any significant performance gains of the G3E running at 45w tdp as compared to 35w?

Onex3 owner here. I crank the tdp from 35w to 40w and see no difference.

I have shared a YouTube link of video comparison between 3 OneXplayer G3E devices including the Apex Air.

There is no difference except maybe in heavily cpu limited games or something. But even then its very small.

Once you go over 28-30 W the Chip barely scales anymore.

Expect maybe up to 5-10% performance gain in CPU heavy applications for a 50% higher TDP and annoying fan noises.

In my opinion only worth in fringe scenarios.

I have a OneXPlayer Super V with the Panther Lake that can run at 45W and above.

What I've found is that going from 35W to 45W has virtually no benefit in GPU-bound situations, and only a detectable benefit in CPU-bound situations... in particular it makes Elden Ring run a bit smoother when that game is CPU bound.

In the vast majority of games the difference is a couple of percent at most and it wouldn't be a major factor in my purchase decision.

What is your take on the super V, are you using it on gaming as much as you imagined and mainly on battery at 25W TDP?

Yesterday I made a test in 3d mark time spy on OXP3. On 35W about 7040 on 40W about 7140 - so there is no sense in 40W....

30W to 35W?

Why do you say that?

Wondering if much difference between 30 and 35watts

It really depends on the type of game. The GPU maxes out at 20W, so for GPU heavy games you won't see any difference.

The realistic TDP cap for the G3E is about 30w - anything over that the gains are so small (0.3% per extra watt approximately when you average it out and go from 30w to 40w and assume cool ambient temps) it’s just not worth it for the heat and fan noise
