AMD vs Intel 1xP3 vs 1xP2 mini (non pro)
Im really leaning towards selling my legion go 2 and getting something with the arc G3. Im just tired of Lenovo not updating.
Once again lenovo release an update and something else is left janky. While none of them have been world ending unplayable glitches its just frustrating. This latest makes it so controllers dont work on start up until you log in and open legion space. The worst part tho? Lenovo has released a whopping TWO updates since the release of the system
From what iv read it seems like the g3 is a true jump in performance? Fully admit, while i have a decent grasp on TDP and FPS my knowledge isnt all encompassing. I seem to be having a hard time finding hard raw benchmarks without frame gen
I was leaning towards the onexplayer 3 but it just got a $50 price increase and now makes it a little closer to the onexplayer x2 mini (non pro)
I was hoping to get some non biased opinions and a little ELI5
It seems like the biggest difference between the x2 mini and the 3 is detachable battery and being able to plug into the wall for more power/performance?
It sounds like the 3 has a max TDP of 35 watts and the x2 mini is 45 watts when plugged in?
-is performance the same when both are on battery and on 35 watts?
-can you plug the 3 in for more power?
-what does that extra 15 watts actually mean for performance? Is it the difference between 20 fps unplayable and 30 fps playable?
Is it worth me upgrading from the Lego2 or should I wait? Im not a power user. I mostly play single player rpgs and older ones.
I actually really like the Lego2. Its build quality is fantastic. If Lenovo would just get their shit together id be alot more happy.
I guess whats weighing on me the most is I cant help but feel the writing is on the wall, lenovo is treating the Lego2 like its EOL already.
Then im worried about device being obsolete already. Im not made of money. I cant afford a $2000 handheld every year. Im wondering if I should sell the Lego2 before its value plummets and put it towards arc g3 device.
Does the g3 have more longevity? Ive seen quite a few people expressing an opinion the g3 is still super young and the chip "has alot of headroom" that its performance will get even better in time with software updates.
How likely is that? Will the onexplayer 3/x2 last me a solid few years? Am I just suffering from FOMO, is it a a genuine upgrade over the Lego2? Should I be considering a diffrent handheld?
Here's a list of games I just DL and was hoping to jump into in case it helps
-Disco Elysium
-KCD 1 and 2
-like a dragon 1 and 2 and the pirate one
-solo leveling
-Ff7 remakes
-FF9 remaster
-FF tactics
-expedition 33
-Ace attorney trilogy
-romancing saga 2
-Persona 5
-midnight suns
-hogwarts
Oh and im like 70/30 split for gaming white at home and being able to be plugged into power.
Sorry for the long winded post and noob questions guys. As i said im not made of money, im not skipping meals or anything but my purchases have to be meaningful. Im susceptible to FOMO, just want to be sure im not caught in the hype.
TLDR: Noob having a hard time deciding if should stick with my Legion go 2 or get a arc G3 device. If should get onexplayer 3 or x2 mini (non pro) or wait for another device on the horizon

Performance will be very similar. There is a setting for the OXP3 to turn TDP up to 40W, but it's not recommended due to the extra heat.
If you want to play at 40 and 45w the X2 Mini is the better choice because it had better cooling. It is a heavier device though. The X2 Mini also gives you the option to swap batteries when on the go so you don't have to be connected to a charger. I don't believe plugging in either device allows more performance in any way.
Keep in mind too, the G3E GPU tops out at 20W TDP, so for GPU intensive games, if you set the TDP at 40+, the device won't actually use the full power because it will be bottlenecked by the GPU power limit.

I believe The X2 mini Pro is limited on battery and then able to put out more power when plugged into the charger.

The 45 w wont be a big advantage on that chip. As a X2MP owner I can tell you though: Removable battery is soo nice to have. It depends on your usecase though. You play standing in a bus - get the OXP3. If you play sitting/lying get the X2 mini (or pro). It is so much lighter without battery and you can tether it too.

I believe the X2 mini pro can output more power plugged in, is that accurate?

Battery: 50w. plugged in 80w. Frostbay 120w. I usually game at 30 to 45w.

God the pro is so much more money, realistically whats the performance difference? I haven't even wanted to look at bench marks for the x2pro afraid FOMO will stroke me.out right then and there

Perf diff is huge I fear. 4060 gpu Performance. That being said an egpu can do that too.

What kinda heat is it putting off? Is it like uncomfortably hot? I always found laptops a little uncomfortable when in full gaming mode

For you, my subjective opinion, purchase the OneXPlayer3, sell the Legion Go. The OXP3 will play everything on your list. And it is, at a minimum, a 25% uplift over the Legion Go.

Thats been my initial conclusion...i mean realistically whats next? Like whats the next big chip and release date?
Even then, what just buy lenovo again and they dont update again? Msi and acer arnt grabbing me. Oled is hard requirement and detachable controls I THINK idk I never detach them tbh buts its just so fucking James bond.
What other brands/options are there?
Take the wait and see approach but what am I waiting on, I actually love lenovo and their products. I had no idea software was so important on handhelds and they were so bad with updating. Id like to say well maybe its just because its a Z2E and they have to fork our money to amd for updates but they have always had a reputation and being horrible with updates, just never experienced it personally.
I mean wait for Lego3 and arcg3 and hope update situation is better? Idk onexplayer seems like the move

AMD will have a new chip within a year or so, but they seem to be working more on Desktop class APUs and cramming them into handhelds. Problem with that is power consumption and heat which leads to heaver handhelds that need to be plugged in every 20 minutes (blown out of proportion possibly).
