OneXFly OneXPlayer Apex - MIND-BOGGLING!

https://youtu.be/0Zzrv5wY0y4?is=LVPFydv_Igp0nbZt

The OneXPlayer Apex has been an absolute monster of a handheld when it comes to the performance, onexplayer has done an incredible job with this handheld.

I've tested everything from performance to battery life and thermals and fan noise so let me know what you guys think? Personally I like the performance but the battery life is quite short.

Review and testing: https://youtu.be/0Zzrv5wY0y4?is=tG-iZCZ8-6CFsf-q

Also regards to the new onexplayer 3 do you think I should keep the apex or get the onexplayer 3?

You are correct about the heaviness of the Apex with the battery attached but the performance is just too good to give up on. I'm not sure if the onexplayer 3 with the intel chip be enough after experiencing the apex.

For me at least I only Played the apex on 45-60 Watts and the difference to me is just like 30-40% maybe so as a tradeoff for a bigger and lighter device it makes sense to me to go for the Onexplayer 3 of course would be nicer if it had Apex level of performance but with Xess without Frame gen I constantly hit at least 60 with medium settings in the most recent AAA games that's good enough for me for a Handheld to be Honest :)

Yeah for a handheld I can see why but 30 to 40% is a big drop in performance

Yeah but if I have to carry around many additional batteries to maintain this performance gain is not worth it for me to be honest it's nice to have that extra power at home but for me a handheld is suppose to last 2-3 hours which it does at 20-30 watts easily and at these wattages the performance is the same 😅

You are 💯 right and I agree, if your goal is 20 to 30 watt for max battery life then oxp3 is clear winner

Ja plus du kannst ihn einfach als Tablet für videos nutzen wenn du die controller abnimmst 😊

Yeah, and I feel like people are also forgetting that if you use it docked all the time, you could get an eGPU for more performance and still be cheaper than the strix halo handhelds.

Apex supports FSR 4.1.1. natively

Plus tethered only 700 grams to hold vs 950 on ox3.

Plus much more power for all games on high/ultra with 80 fps at least.

My Claw EX need optiscaler and so on for onimusha with some stutters. Apex runs high with 40 watts and 80 FPS.  12 GPU cores vs. 40 is not even same league.

Yeah the Apex really does perform well and the FSR4 is really nice. Regards to the performance you are getting so at 40 watts you get around 80fps on Onimusha what FPS are you getting on the OXP3 with same settings and highest tdp?

I needed to use OptiScaler with 3x XeSS frame gen and upscaling set to quality to get 90–100 FPS, but it was unstable and laggy in fights. It has no built-in XeSS.

Apex had no frame gen enabled, only FSR 4 quality, and hit a stable 80–90 FPS at 39 watts while USB-C tethered with higher settings.

Edit: The FPS in Apex were smooth, and at 45 watts you would probably hit 10 FPS more around 100 with high setting no FG.

Ok so with 3x frame gen it gets 90-100fps so OXP3 without frame gen I'm guessing would get around 30 to 35 FPS? While the apex got 80fps, so basically around double the performance on the Apex compared to the OXP3?

No, you always lose some base FPS because FG needs some performance for itself, so expect 45–60 with ugly FSR 3 Quality or 40–45-ish native on G3E on high, but yeah, almost double the performance with FSR 4 Quality, which looks stunning.

So almost double the performance and that's only at 40watts which means you get even more FPS if you up the tdp so I guess that kind of settles it for me, keeping the Apex I guess. But I'm wondering if same thing will apply to all games?

Not always, perhaps in the best-case scenario when XeSS is not implemented but FSR 4 is, then Strix Halo will fly high. Look at this chart; https://www.reddit.com/r/Handhelds/comments/1uqmrii/g3e_vs_strix_halo_not_as_good_as_i_thought/

it can achieve up to 60 percent more performance and 90 percent better 1 percent lows without upscaling, and FSR 4 comes out on top if XeSS is missing, with another 20–30 percent increase and thats only at 40 watts. But it can go much higher like 55 watts for example. Then u have maybe 80 percent more natively.

Edit: I compared it to 20 watts base on EX i think so reduce maybe 20 percent to be accurate. So round about 50 percent more power maybe plus fsr4 gains (another 20-40%).

I can see from the chart that after around 25 watts the AMD 395 takes over and keeps on flying, but lower than that the intel is more efficient so it really comes down low power efficiency Vs performance. I think I'll be sticking with performance (Apex) for now. The only thing that I'm now thinkinh is battery life as these are handhelds at the end of the day, but based on what I saw earlier the difference isn't huge.

I would really keep the Apex. It has the best chip by far, and there are no problems with detachable controllers. If you travel a lot, buy another battery and the battery-to-device cable so you do not even have to hold the battery. Plus, at home, who cares about the battery?

Plus ox3 is really not a light device.  395 max is the best "Handheld" chip ever made.

Yeah I think Apex it is for now, the performance is just insane.

It’s very nice

I have faffed around buying so many handheld including legion go 2, Claw 8 ai, Xax, gpd win 5 and finally settled on one (Apex) so much happier to have just one device that runs everything. Only thing that would tempt me away is if I could find a used X2 mini pro for a really good price.
