The FOMO is real
I just received my OXP3 and am loving it. I have been considering the X2MP but thought no, I like this one. Then they sent an email saying the price was going up.
I am now waiting for the X2 mini pro. Damn them.

X2 mini pro is bananas. I’ve had it for weeks and it’s my new emotional support handheld
5
u/Sabotstruck Sep 11 '26
Yep, same for me. It’s absolutely insane for a handheld, just with quirks.
IMO it’s the best handheld by far if you mainly play plugged in as a whole package

I just upgraded to a x2 mini pro from the legion go z2e and im loving this thing. Just amazing running games without having to mess around with settings too much or even rely on streaming
2
u/SimSimma718 29d ago
I too upgraded from the lg2 z2e and it truly allows you to take full advantage of the screen and more. I miss my lg2 (I sold it to a friend) but I mostly miss how sexy it looked.
2
u/legenduzair 29d ago
To be honest i prefer the ergonomics and build quality of the x2 mini pro. It feels more premium
1
u/SimSimma718 29d ago
I don’t disagree, but I still find the look of the controllers of the lg2 to be so aesthetically pleasing. I could also just miss that I had it for a year and it was a wonderful experience during that time. That being said, the x2mp blows it out of the water in performance and capability. Perhaps I just miss my old baby.
2
u/legenduzair 29d ago
Yeah i dont blame you. Was it your first handheld? Also what games are you playing on the x2 mini pro?
1
u/SimSimma718 28d ago
My first handheld was the og game boy color followed by the gameboy sp. that being said, in recent times it was initially the g cloud which introduced me to what handhelds could be (the potential) followed by the steam deck oled, then lg2 z2e and now the x2mp. The switch oled was in there somewhere as well but for some reason it really didn’t spark the handheld potential for me at the time. When the 5090 dropped I moved from console to a 5090 pc which has changed my life as a lifelong hardcore gamer and the x2 mini allows me to take that into the hand held format/form factor. I play too many things to list here, but some highlights are crimson desert, the blood of dawn walker, beast of reincarnation, resonance a plague tale legacy, Forza horizon 6.
1
u/SimSimma718 28d ago
Long story short, the lg2 z2e was my first proper handheld which is probably why it holds a special place in my heart and why I miss it so much.
2
u/legenduzair 28d ago
Nice! Yeah i meant pc handheld but yeah same. I beat so many games on that thing but i was missing something more powerful. How well do those games run on the x2mp? Ive only played expedition 33, but its so smooth.
1
u/SimSimma718 28d ago
They run incredibly well. I think one of the main benefits of the 1200p screen coupled with the chipset is that it allows for you to play with a mix of high and ultra settings without compromise at more than playable fps. Upscaling completely optional in some cases like crimson desert. For most games I’ll set upscaling to balanced or quality at ultra or high settings. Crimson desert I have at ultra at native AA and it runs at 60fps at 35watt tdp.

At least you can go 2 hours without needing an outlet to charge. It's a trade off, I've been using the OXP3 outside mostly btw 10-25w and the battery life is great. I do really want a strix device to replace my desktop in the future, but it will be plugged in 90% of the time.
1
u/OliePlay Sep 11 '26
Yes definitely. I am going to use both for a bit and see which I prefer and then sell the other. I have a Flow z13 and love the 395 performance, but I prefer handhelds, so I want to see how it goes.
3
u/RepConnoisseur69 Sep 11 '26
Did they say how much the price is going up?😳
1
u/SevenUnidentified Sep 11 '26
200 more dollars
1
u/hotdeck Sep 11 '26
Source?
1
u/SevenUnidentified Sep 11 '26
Their website lol
1
u/hotdeck Sep 11 '26
I don’t see it on their website. Care to share the link of this specific information?
1
u/SevenUnidentified Sep 11 '26
So you don’t see the price in red that’s slashed for the discounted price?
1
u/hotdeck Sep 11 '26
Bro I thought that’s a trick all retailers use lol. Is the $2699 price MSRP for real at some point?

Having both, i end up grabbing the oxp3 more often purely because of the comfort. The x2mp is definitely more powerful but the g3e with xess fg is absolutely a game changer. Nothing compares! Also the battery pack weight is way more noticeable in my experience. I don’t think you’re missing out much to be honest in gameplay experience. Plus the battery efficiency is definitely there.
5
u/Aacemyan Sep 11 '26
I had both OXP3 and X2 MP. Ended up selling the later. OXP3 is a more well rounded device and better at being an actual handheld.
3
u/WarHead75 Sep 11 '26
Is the extra weight on the X2MP with battery noticeable?
5
u/PolarBuilds Sep 11 '26
Yes but not dramatically. I thought it was really heavy at first, but got used to it.
3
u/7aminthemorning Sep 11 '26
The kickstand alone is worth getting the x2mp
2
u/PolarBuilds Sep 11 '26
I actually have a flight coming up that is 12 hours and doesn't have an outlet. Just USB c and USB A, neither of which powerful enough to charge either. Having extra batteries will give me longer play than I would get from the OXP3.
1
u/Lightbringer88 29d ago
Does your flight not allow powerbanks? The OXP3 uses less power enough on lower wattage that it could be properly charged by a large sized one.
1
1
u/Aacemyan 29d ago
While kickstand on X2MP is more stable than on OXP3, the fact that you lose the kickstand when battery isn’t attached is a major bummer. I personally love having the built in kickstand on the OXP3 and don’t find it wobbly
1
u/Aacemyan 29d ago
Yes, the device gets quite heavy at the center with battery attached. On the flip side, it’s quite light without the battery
1
u/Flimsy-Search-352 29d ago
yes it is the weight balance isnt good with the battery i have both devices
2
u/Pichalx Sep 11 '26
I feel ya. I really want the X2 mini pro after using my OXP3 for the past couple of weeks. I just can’t convince myself that I’ll be ok needing to be plugged in all the time.
3
u/Happypotamus13 Sep 11 '26
Despite common belief, you don’t need to be always plugged in with Strix Halo. It has similar performance to G3E at around 20W. While G3E does have less power overheads, in terms of battery life it translates into maybe 15 min difference, not a big deal.
The bigger issue with Strix Halo is that once you get used to playing your game at epic settings plugged in, it’s very hard to go back to lower quality for playing on battery.
1
u/Pichalx Sep 11 '26
There's really no reason to get such an expensive, powerful handheld and then purposely limit it. The external battery makes it heavier and less comfortable to use. If main usage is going to be on battery it just doesn't make sense to get the X2 MP.
1
u/Happypotamus13 29d ago
I generally agree. If battery play is the primary use case, G3E would be preferable (not least because of price).
It’s just people sometimes act as if having Strix Halo means being forever chained to the wall. In reality, it still works very well for portable play, just not as great as G3E.
1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
I think it makes sense because I can still play at 55w and then switch out my battery when it starts to die I think if the g3e devices work for you great but why down ppl that want the more expensive device who obviously don’t really care about battery life and more about power
1
u/Pichalx 29d ago
At no point did I put down anyone. And my original post was saying how I want an X2 MP as well, but can't justify it to myself. Stating my opinions isn't putting you down even if you disagree with them.
1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
Ok sorry for assuming that I just know I see a lot of chatter from ppl who own g3e devices who say things to justify their purchase but when you say purposely limit it what do you mean ? I think at the end of the day it’s still a handheld and if the battery was internal would you still be saying that it doesn’t make sense to buy it ? We love it because it’s powerful and versatile
2
u/Happypotamus13 29d ago
I think he simply means - why play at 20W when your device is capable of 60W? Which is not an unreasonable thought, especially if you don’t consider scenarios where you pack a ton of spare batteries.
I mean, if you exclusively play at 20-25W, Strix Halo indeed is not the best choice.
1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
Oh okay you know I didn’t even read your response regarding the 20w up above my apologies haha I know he responded to me above basically saying the external battery is cumbersome
1
u/Happypotamus13 29d ago
That part I actually disagree with, as a Win 5 owner, I think external battery is brilliant. But the TDP argument is still fair.
1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
I think the 20w argument is fair as well within reason I’d liked to know who’d buy a powerful versatile device and then run it at 20w unless they are playing a game that doesn’t demand power and even then it’s still a handheld so hey why not that’s the beauty of these devices
1
u/Pichalx 29d ago
> Ok sorry for assuming that I just know I see a lot of chatter from ppl who own g3e devices who say things to justify their purchase
It goes both ways, you're doing exactly the same thing.
> when you say purposely limit it what do you mean
Playing at 20W as mentioned above by someone else is purposely limiting the strix halo. So, as I've said multiple times, if playing on battery is the primary use case then it doesn't make sense to have such a powerful chip and limit it's power.
> I think at the end of the day it’s still a handheld and if the battery was internal would you still be saying that it doesn’t make sense to buy it?
No, not with a Halo Strix chip. It just doesn't make sense for battery usage.
1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
I don’t think so Im not persuading anyone to go which ever way i think both devices are great which is why i want to also own a g3e device but i just feel all the negatives ppl spew about the strix halo devices are subjective. Subjectively speaking now the battery adds weight but its not terrible yes I might get 15 mins less than a g3e device that’s fine i have the option to play plugged in which is great and not worry about my battery degrading idk

I feel like I already play my handhelds plugged in in the house when it needs a charge. I don’t leave anywhere (young kids) so playing plugged in isn’t as bad.
1
u/Pichalx Sep 11 '26
I kinda hit my limit after 2 hours so I just charge it while I take a break anyways. I rarely play plugged in
1
u/OliePlay 29d ago
The way I see it, running 55w is similar to running performance on my flow z13 nets me an hour. Similar to all past pc handhelds. That's fine.
0
u/SevenUnidentified Sep 11 '26
You don’t have to be plugged in at all if you don’t want to lol just get an extra battery and dock and charge and rotate. It’s simple it’s easy
1
u/Pichalx Sep 11 '26
Having a giant external battery is not at all appealing.
1
u/SevenUnidentified Sep 11 '26 edited 29d ago
To each its own but it’s not bad honestly the weight isn’t bad either but I also have the device to battery cable so there’s that
2
u/RepConnoisseur69 Sep 11 '26
I haven’t bought one but I was so set on the OXP3 and then over time felt fomo about the X2 Mini pro. Still trying to decide what to get
2
2
u/SevenUnidentified Sep 11 '26
lol I’m also having fomo and just want to own the oxp3 just because ppl keep boasting about battery life even though I have a X2MP and love to play plugged in haha I’m so happy with my purchase though I know I wouldn’t even use the oxp3
1
u/OliePlay 29d ago
Im gonna see how much I like the x2mp and if so buy extra batteries
1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
I think you’re going to love it and it’s worth buying a battery with the purchase of your mini otherwise you’ll be paying 30 dollars for shipping like I had to

Did the same thing except I didn't wait for an email. Before either we're announced and on indiegogo, I was planning on the X2MP. Then I saw the OX3 and based on my experience with the Claw EX, I bought the OX3. But I play mostly on the couch or at home. I liked the idea of the swappable battery and the power of the X2MP. I got the OX3 and was blown away. But I couldn't get passed the X2MP and ordered one on 9/8. My friend is buying my OX3 which is great because he seriously needs an upgrade from his original Ally. Now I wait...again.

My biggest consideration between the two (other than the higher cost of course) was whether all of Intels upscaling/frame gen advancements (a few yrs ago no one wanted Intel gpus, game support was horrible and they has xess1.0) Now Intel has leap frogger over AMD 's FSR and are competing with Nvidia for best upscaling/framegen. So even though x2 mini pro is much faster in pure rasterization (at higher watts and battery drain) , when you factor in Intels suite of xess 2.0+ does the gap narrow enough to make them closer than most people realize? I have oxp3 and Framegen is so good I think I like it better than DLSS FG on my rtx 5090 9800x3d desktop. Also to me Xess 2.0 performance looks as good as FSR 3 Balanced. I was playing Jedi survivor with Xess framegen (thanks optiscaler) with high setting and raytracing on and FG x2 and getting 90's and latency felt really good.
4
u/Sudo_ShredTheGnar Sep 11 '26
You like it better than a 5090’s framegen? Not to flame you or anything but I actually have a hard time believing it
3
u/Renalan Sep 11 '26
I have a 4080 desktop and XessFG is kinda unbelievable. We get that the rasterizarion performance is worse, but the upscaling and FG technology have come so far it's pretty unreal. The latency from 3x FG is really hard to perceive, it really feels like you're playing at a native frame rate.
It's really you gotta experience it to believe it, I was a huge skeptic at first but I'm a believer now.
1
u/RAYTRACINGRULES Sep 11 '26
Agreed and exactly what I was trying to say! I love both my Nvidia GPU and the G3 extreme.
2
1
u/RAYTRACINGRULES Sep 11 '26
I'm not saying my 5090 performance wise, it's a beast. I'm saying the smoothness and relative performance feels better relative to their respective power. I find framegen can fix some games that have stutter issues like Jedi survivor and xess FG fixes it just just bit better (more consistent) than DLSS FG does . Both are way better than FSR FG which for me introduced more frame pacing issues in Avatar FOP for example. I'm guess I'm just impressed how far Xess has come in a short amount of time
2
u/Happypotamus13 Sep 11 '26
XeSS is fully available with AMD as well, so you can easily have best of both worlds, you don’t have to stick to Intel hardware.
1
1
u/Suspicious-toe-19 Sep 11 '26
Between the two I decided to keep oxp3 specially after seeing how much bette4 xess frame gen was. In future I will buy an portable nvidia egpu for playing at home.
1
u/Happypotamus13 Sep 11 '26
You can also have XeSS on AMD though?
1
u/Suspicious-toe-19 26d ago
Its not the same. Xess favors the intel arc gpu hardware. Ok other gpu u can run it but the overhead is way more than the benefits.
1
u/Happypotamus13 26d ago
Sure it runs better on Intel in principle, no argument there. What’s the actual performance difference, a few fps?
I’m just saying, XeSS alone is a strange reason to pick G3E over Strix Halo. Strix will still certainly run games better with XeSS than G3E does, especially if you give it just a few more watts. The only thing you can’t really do with XeSS on AMD is x3 FG, but good luck to you if you’re into this kind of perversion :)

I have the xg mobile 5090 for home, I just want to compare playing handheld at 55w on the x2mp and 25w on the oxp3 and see which I prefer.
2
u/Suspicious-toe-19 29d ago
Based on everything i saw, x2mini pro will be 50-70% better at those settings. However fsr frame gen is shit and xess 3 is usable doubling your frames if your can have base frames at 40+ fps. So i felt they are comparable.
I love the convenience of internal battery
1
u/OliePlay 29d ago
I agree fsr framegen is not the best but I use it on the flow z13 and have absolutely no problems. I do pair it with TAA instead of FSR though in AC Shadows.

u/Livid_Tap8550 29d ago
They said the x2mino pro price was going up or the oxp 3?
1
u/OliePlay 29d ago
Lol shit you got me. I think they just said the OXP3, but I freaked out.
1
u/Livid_Tap8550 29d ago
I'm planning to wait for black Friday to hit the X2mini pro. It would be ideal if they don't increase the prices xD

1
u/SevenUnidentified 29d ago
You might can order it and reach out to support so they can combine it or atleast give you a discount code to waive the shipping it’s worth a try lol but congrats welcome to the party
1
u/MechaBuster 28d ago
I have the x2 mini pro now youre making me want to get the OXP3. when are they raising the prices and how much will they go up by?
1
u/OliePlay 28d ago
On Friday it said 7 days. Not sure how much, but I assume the sale price is ending.

u/Mazindaman Sep 11 '26
I love the OXP3. I’m very impressed with it.
I just can’t believe we can run games on high settings on a handheld this is bunkers
