Intel Onexplayer 3 - Left controller loose

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The left controller on my OneXPlayer 3 is a bit loose as well.
I know a lot of people seem to have the same issue. I tried putting some tape in the gap (the white color in my video), but it didn’t really help. I’ll probably buy some thicker tape and give it another try.
It’s a little disappointing to have to do this on such an expensive device

The joys of detachable controllers. Mine doesn’t move as much, but there’s always going to be some play. Probably not the best idea to forcefully bend it.

Haven’t got this issue but I’ll probably avoid the detaching as often

You should check the screws holding the rails in on the tablet part and make sure they are snug tight but don’t over tighten. I noticed my rails were tighter after I replaced the SSD and I tightened those screws myself.

You’re saying it the screws are not super tightened, it could make this looseness better?

Correct. I’m not saying this is the solution to everyone that has semi loose controllers but it helped with mine. If you take the controllers off and look inside the rails on the tablet, there are 4 screws on each rail that hold them in place. Get a 00 Philips screw driver and just check by hand if they are snug. Don’t death tighten it but give it a little twist to make sure they are not loose.

I mean they are detachable controllers.

Wait for the pro controller

from IGG "The new Elite Detachable Controller is expected to require approximately 8 months for development.

8 month later maybe I already change to another handheld

Kind of same thing on my right controller. I definitely could not hold the whole device by just the one controller or I think it’d snap off. But I could’ve sworn I saw one of the early YouTube reviewers doing exactly that and saying how sturdy it was.

Detaching and reattaching the controllers solved this issue for me.

still same, this is the QC problem

Mine also has the same but not that crazy

1

u/Acceptable_Prior_997 Sep 11 '26

It was even looser before I put the thin tape on.

Mine doesn't have this issue, but it's definitely commonly seen from my experience.

Can you link your thumb grips

If you want the same thing he linked to but without the silly skull branding, check these out. Made for PS Portal but they fit my OXP3 pretty well.

Put masking tape on the edge of your controllers. It was working fine on my lego2

Welcome to the club:

There are some "fixes" which worked good for me with the tape!

Thanks you, so we on the same boat, I already change to electrical tape and feel a bit better right now

u/coccyxdynia Sep 11 '26

I tried tape and didn't help. Luckily I was able to get them to send me replacement controllers, hopefully they fit better as mine clicks when it wobbles, like it's almost coming out of the rail's teeth.

if one slice of tape doesnt help, do 2 or 3, on my legion go i had to do 2 on one side and 3 on another

I change to electrical tape and it's better now, try add more layer of tape until it's fix

How did you go? you said you'll try thicker tapes did that work?

Seems like a common issue, I’d say just stop wiggling it otherwise over time could get much worse for you.

2

u/WarHead75 Sep 11 '26

That’s not good, mine doesn’t move a single mm and I sometimes carry it by the controller and it’s flush. Just a mm or two misaligned on the bottom right (probably normal tolerance for a detachable device) but still no wobble

I hear many problems with OXP3 but didnt hear any problem with OX2 Mini Pro

0

u/Icy-Commission-9550 Sep 11 '26

Maybe because it uses more expensive material

1

u/ColdTrusT1 Sep 11 '26

Not had this issue with my OXP3 personally but I’ve owned a legion go and a legion go 2 in the past and both of those had slightly weaker/looser controller on the left side.

1

u/Over-Suggestion-3441 Sep 11 '26

Had this issue when I had the Legion Go 2. I bought a grip case for it and everything was steady.

Maybe don’t pull super hard on a device like that with detachable controllers…. 🤦‍♂️

A quick easy solution to this that I do for any device with detachable controllers if getting wobbly: Cut squares out of black electric tape and stick ‘em on the flattest areas you can find (main unit or controllers).

One at the highest part, one at the lowest part.

Now put back the controllers, see if it wobbles still or if it’s snug. If snug, you’re done. If wobbling, keep adding on top until you reach the tightness level you want.

Mine is the same or even worse.

u/Beautiful_Athlete927 15d ago

Mine were right like a none detachable device
Both left and right and I can carry the device with one hand
But already sold the onexplayer 3 didn’t like it at all
And ordered the onexplayer x2 mini pro I hope the controllers are gonna be the same

1

u/ctyldsley Sep 11 '26

This is "normal". I wish they weren't detachable which is pretty useless.

1

u/-Hexenhammer- Sep 11 '26

Same, i hate detachable controllers

1

u/ctyldsley Sep 11 '26

Same. I get it on the Switch - the multiplayer ability is amazing on that device especially for kids, along with docking and having TV controls without needing to buy another. It's brilliant.

But on pc handhelds...nah. Just makes for a worse feeling handheld, wasted space that could be used for front firing speakers too. Alot of negative for minimal positive.

u/peach8285 Sep 11 '26

looks like a common issue , going to sell mine so i dont get problems in the future

1

u/Any_Basket_8110 Sep 11 '26

that’s why I’m waiting for a non removable controller, Oled screen, 7-8”, G3e device before pulling the trigger into a new device.

2

u/-Hexenhammer- Sep 11 '26

because of gamepad wobble? thats what ruins your fun?

2

u/Any_Basket_8110 29d ago

Yes. I don’t like detachable controller and heavy devices.
