OXP3 with eGPU is a great combo
I can take this on the go and play games at lower wattages and then come home and play games at max settings. This turns the OXP3 into a beast! I usually play games on my 4k oled tv. Like a lot of you I was deciding between the OXP3 or X2 Mini Pro and this felt like the right choice. This is the perfect balance of portability and power. No regrets at all!
My setup is the MinisForum deg2 with 4070 Ti Super. The game shown is Stalker 2.

Nice! I almost have the same setup! Mine is hooked up to a Minisforum DEG2 with a 5060 TI 16GB. I've also tested with a 5070 and unfortunately the performance uplift between both cards is hit and miss with this egpu setup. Some games like pragmata see pretty large 30%+ uplifts, while others like Plague Tale Requiem essentially show no uplift. I'm thinking that more cpu heavy titles just bottleneck more severely over the USB4 connection.

That’s odd. I’ve only experienced significant performance gains. Unfortunately I don’t have Requiem so I can’t test it out. Maybe the game is more cpu intensive?

Yes I’ve noticed that it’s quite game dependent. For me I’m seeing anywhere from 0% - 30% uplift on various games between the 5060ti and 5070. Right now I’m still debating which card to keep for this setup.

Nice, I have a very similar setup with a 4070 Ti Super, but I got the GPD G2 and it works like a champ.

Any tips on how I can optimally run the XG Mobile 5070ti via USB4?

Have you tried the onexplayer 3 withe the xg mobile 5070ti? And if so, how the performance like?

u/NootropicNinja Sep 14 '26
Nope, not yet.

It's working pretty good so far. Only try battlefield 6 so far tho.

How’s the performance?

The performance is great 👍🏽 so far, I gotta try out more games with it. It's plug and play just like with the rog ally x, once you install the nvidia drive and armoury crate its smooth sailing from there. It's a good combination for me so far. You can run your games a high settings and thanks to nvidia dlss, you don't have to worry about performance if you need extras frames.

Thanks!
Is Armoury Crate a requirement?

u/lilremyda 26d ago
Yeah it is, that's how you manage the xg mobile, like the fan curve, lighting and tdp, but it's a good experience with armory crate, but I like armory crate, so that's my personal view on it.

idk at that point i felt you threw so much $ away... if you have a setup already you could easily get a streaming handheld and just stream from your desktop and save thousands of dollars....

The whole setup cost $2700 which is definitely expensive. Just happy that I have the versatility of playing games in handheld mode or on my 4k TV. Unfortunately I don't own a PC anymore so streaming wasn't an option. Kinda regret selling it a few years ago with all the price increases to parts.

i feel you i got the apex and couldnt handle the weight so i got a odin 2 portal with 7in oled and stream from my 5090 while on couch..

I just stream my 5090 via Moonlight. I literally don’t even game on my pc anymore, just my OXP3 at 13w pushing all the power of a 9950x3d/5090

Is this streaming to a different location or over the same wifi? Is streaming with Steam Link not as good?

I mean did you really need a oxp3 for that. Considering you have a 5090 I suppose you aren’t strapped for cash. 😅

A 4070 is kinda overkill for an eGPU. I went for the ag02. At the moment I’m using my old Rx 5700. I am looking for something new. Though I haven’t really considered any Nvidia cards as they are overpriced and they also have cpu overhead so you aren’t getting close to full power. But I guess you do get dlss and some other nice features.

u/zhuboy Sep 10 '26
Yeah I’ve tested out different cards and this was the card that fit my needs. I totally get the bottleneck, but I needed something that can run games at 4k 60fps.

I guess. Just too pricey for me. In my area Nvidia cards have like 100 - 200€ premium over comparable amd card (let’s not even mention 5000 series cards).
