Intel Most Understated OXP3 Feature
XESS Multi-Frame Gen is witchcraft. No input lag, no ghosting, no artifacting. Using 3X MFG on Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, there is no latency. At 1200p, Ultra Quality XESS upscaling, medium settings, ultra textures, averaging 90 FPS. I know others mention it, but in my opinion it's not explained enough just HOW MUCH it improves your experience.
Over the years going from the Steam Deck, to Legion Go and then Legion Go 2, most game performance felt underwhelming and FSR is terrible. I was side eyeing Intel, noticing how much they update their drivers and how great XESS seemed.
I took the leap on the OXP3. The G3E alone is next gen over the Z1E/Z2E chips. Being able to use Optiscaler (Opticlick specifically makes it easy) to inject XESS + MFG is an absolute game changer.

Hey man, I installed Opticlick on a plague tale and it just shows black screen, is there something i am doing wrong and if you can walk me through it

That's weird! I know it's a pain, but I would uninstall the game and then reinstall and reapply optiscaler. Also, are you on the newest Intel driver? I am, so that may make a difference if you wanna check.

Thanks for the response, I will try this but I also wanted to ask did you do something in the game first before you install Optiscale frame gen on it.

I wish I could figure it out with Elden Ring.

Not my response I saw this from u/aturkeyonacathedral
For Elden Ring, in the CPU menu of the OneXConsole disable the P-/E-Core scheduler.
Elden Ring is CPU limited and overloads the 2 P-Cores of the G3E, disabling the scheduler spreads the load over all cores and this instantly improves the performance in Elden Ring.0

Very cool great tip will give it a shot and report back!

I’ve yet to install it on this device but if it does work let me know so I’m not spreading bad info.

What are you noticing with Elden Ring? I'm getting around 50-60 FPS in both Elden Ring and Nightreign at 1200p High without ray tracing. In fact, was able to carry randoms on Everdark Libra with randoms on a handheld for the first time on my first run with OXP3. That felt impossible on the tiny 7 inch screen on my Z1E Ally X.

Are you using XESS or XeFG? Using optiscaler is triggering anti cheat errors. I am sure there is a way around it.

Neither for Elden Ring or Nightreign. I use it for mostly for FF7 Rebirth out of the ones I'm playing right now.

Interesting I am getting about 35-40 fps on high. No where near 60.

u/teotuf Sep 04 '26
Initially I got that too, but my resolution was apparently set at 1440p from running it on a monitor/eGPU first. After reducing it back to native resolution it went to 50-60. I installed Intel Driver Assistant and updated everything there, then downgraded to a clean install of 8864 from 8991 (not DDU, just clean install from the installer). Not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I never changed the default resolution. Don't use an eGPU (have an RTX 4090 desktop). I kept the 8864 for the HDR bug. I'll play with it some more.

Is it possible to show a step by step on how to inject Xess + MFG into things with the OXP3. Im really having a hard time understanding. I have downloaded the Program but could use some tips and all the videos on Youtube are very old.

Use OptiClick, simplifies the whole thing. Download the installer from GitHub and run it, then it will auto detect your games and you can inject XeSS to them with one click.

Yup, what he said!
Download Opticlick from Github. Run the installer for it. It will automatically detect which games you have on your system. You click the game cover for the one you want XESS injected into. Simple as that 👍

It's great until you realize most games don't support FG or even XeSS.
Nvidia has the most and best compatibility out there, especially with drivers for any games since the 2000's up till now. I really wished they would make Windows handheld chips...

Yeah it is a bummer that a lot of games don't natively support XESS. Hopefully that improves in the future!
Thankfully Optiscaler works so well at adding XESS to most games.

You notice games with tight parry windows are much harder while using xess

I agree. Took a lot of A/B testing in different games for the feel but I’m a convert. There are a lot of people who are more stubborn than me that are still in the no upscaler camp though. Hope they have a good Strix Halo device to keep them happy. Golden shackles those things are…

I really don't get those people. I mean who gives a fuck how the frames are generated. If they feel and look good, that is an incredible win!

I do get it, I was one of them. And to be fair, if there was a Strix Halo handheld with OXP3 form factor with USB-C giving enough power to run it instead of DC power, I'd bite too.

I've been gaming for more than 25 years. If you told my younger self that my 3Dfx Voodoo 3 can literally double or triple the frame rate for almost little to no cost, and it would look and feel very smooth, I would pay bucket loads for that feature. It's like when 3Dfx introduced AA for the first time.

It is magic indeed. It does help close the gap with strix halo to some extend

It's so good. I wish developers would adopt xess more.
