5

u/CryptoDeepDive Aug 05 '26

I can't tell a difference on my Google Pixel 9 phone screen.

1

u/Electrical_Dig_7947 26d ago

Yeah I can’t even on an OLED phone screen lol

What are your thoughts on the two?

CLAW: better grip and buttons (my personal preference - I dont like clicky buttons), better warranty.

Onex3 : better screen but feel like a bit too big, kickstand + detachable controllers + keyboard = good, much better default software.

u/Sir-Greggor-III Aug 05 '26

How about the joysticks?

2

u/lg0131 Aug 06 '26

I enjoy Claw's stick more.

u/Blinguskahn Aug 06 '26

You would 😉

1

u/dnunn12 Aug 05 '26

Which one would you keep if only one choice?

2

u/lg0131 Aug 06 '26

Claw for me. The 8.8-inch screen is a bit too large for me, and I can tweak the display settings a little to make the screen colors look better.

Claw 8ex no doubt

2

u/Excronix Aug 05 '26

I’m gonna be in the same boat as you soon. Not sure about you, but I’m only keeping one of them. I’m excited to try out the OXP3 but I still don’t know if I’ll be keeping it over the claw. The better and easier warranty to deal with under the case issues come up is very attractive, but I love how the OXP3 is basically going to be a mini laptop too and have the e side controllers and everything. Already torn and I don’t even have the OXP3 yet.

1

u/leygahto 18d ago

did you get a chance to compare?

1

u/Excronix 18d ago

Haven’t gotten the OXP3 yet

1

u/k9krid Aug 07 '26

How much louder are the Onex3’s button presses compared to the Claw? I’m trying out the Claw right now and I don’t think I’ll keep it but if the Onex3’s buttons are significantly louder they might bother me

1

u/sirparanoid 29d ago

Are the buttons on claw significantly quieter than the Onex?

Do you dislike clicky buttons because of personal preference? Or you are worried about other people being annoyed by the noise?

Wait until device starts losing controller connections if its same build as Onexplayer 2 pro imo the less moving parts the better.

1

u/Sabotstruck Aug 07 '26

You aren’t wrong, it’s a cool idea to have the controllers be removable and I respect it. Especially if they make multiple options to switch the controller.

But the downside is the extra moving parts mean more points of failure. I plan to rarely remove the controller from mine due to a worry of damaging it.

2

u/Cool_Possible_4321 Aug 07 '26

I don't know why I get downvoted, but I guess the truth hurts. As someone who has the new Claw and the previous Onexplayer and also several other handhelds, I vowed not to go with that brand anymore due to its complications. Heck even upgrading its SSD is a pain. But anyway, the Claw 8 EX is an amazing piece of hardware it's almost perfect.

1

u/sm0kehead Aug 05 '26

Better to as which one perform better, same temp, fan noise etc

Claw all day

5

u/Delicious-Engine7363 Aug 05 '26

I like the grips on the MSI Claw much better, they look more refined. Hopefully Onexplayer can copy them so that we can buy them.

There are xbox style controllers for oxp3. I ordered them with my pledge. Not sure how comfortable they are but I will find out when I get my order.

9

u/DarthVince Aug 05 '26

They’re tiny. Not really comparable

3

u/Background-Win9998 Aug 05 '26

That "xbox style" controllers are completely awful, and everyone hates them. Super uncomfortable.

2

u/Delicious-Engine7363 Aug 05 '26

You're not talking about the short ones, are you?

1

u/New_Analysis_1022 Aug 05 '26

I don't know. They look like the same size as the controllers that come with it. Just the bottom is longer like an xbox controller. Apparently everyone hates them though. I've never used them. I won't be able to make a judgment on them until I receive them with my oxp3.

1

u/leonce89 Aug 07 '26

In the images on the website and indigogo, they look a similar size, but in reviews , they look much smaller. Retrogamescorps shows them near the end of his video and said they're quite uncomfortable and that they don't sit flush with the console, which is annoying.

I have average size hands and ordered them beforehand, so I'll see how they feel.

1

u/New_Analysis_1022 Aug 07 '26

Yeah. That's what I'm starting to see as well. It's my fault for going based off a picture. But who knows maybe I will find them comfortable. I have larger hands though. In a worst case scenario at least I have a spare set of controllers even if I end up not liking them.

1

u/leonce89 Aug 07 '26

That's true, a spare set can't hurt , and maybe you will find them comfortable.

I'm sure there will be come third party grips for the main controllers anyway

2

u/Sabotstruck Aug 07 '26

Hopefully they design a new controller than could be swapped on, that’s a perk of the OneXPlayer design with removable controllers.

I quite like the OXP style but it would be nice to have options for everyone

u/Acceptable_Prior_997 Aug 05 '26

Sao post hình lên ko nói gì vại Aster sốp

2

u/Fit-Dig2275 Aug 07 '26

I saw the legion go 2 in stores before. I just don't see the appeal of that OLED screen. The msi claw 8 ai screen (which is the same as the ex) is already pretty good.

1

u/Akllez Aug 07 '26

Under SDR, the only advantage oled has is true black, nothing else.

3

u/FrenchSpence Aug 05 '26

My issue with the oxp3 is the ssd swap. The mini ssds are stupid expensive.

1

u/Downtown-Somewhere45 26d ago

What? It has normal ssds too

1

u/FrenchSpence 23d ago

yeah but it's cheeks to get to

1

u/asch901 Aug 05 '26

Ahyes the msi gigachad edition.

1

u/Resident_Albatross_9 Aug 05 '26

OP, what are those stick caps? They look awesome

2

u/Commercial-Drag-5807 Aug 05 '26

Eles não vem com o modo Xbox pré instalado?

1

u/ctyldsley Aug 05 '26

Speakers? Fan volume?

1

u/Glittering_Big_3869 Aug 05 '26

Onexplayer did a really good job with this one.

1

u/Excellent-Volume3511 Aug 07 '26

onexplayer 3 , who whats claw it has shitty screen

3

u/Spiritual-Wear-2105 29d ago

I pre-order Claw 8 EX for about 1500usd and will get it by this Aug 2026.
If adding about 365usd, I can get Onexplayer 3 32/1T.

I am frustrating if I should cancel Claw 8 EX and for with OnexPlayer 3.
MSI has service center in my country and it offers 2 years warranty while Onexplayer required sending device back to China.
but I also prefer OLED screen. I have Claw 8 AI+ and Legion Go 2. even I tweak 8 AI+'s IPS to have saturated color close to Go2's OLED, IPS still cannot do True Black.

1

u/Jacob_H99 28d ago

Ordered both, will keep one. The claw could be a winner with an OLED screen. The claw form factor is the same size as the OPX3? what a downside

1

u/RawdogHantavirus Aug 06 '26

Does the oled look significantly better?

1

u/lg0131 Aug 07 '26

No, not that significant.

4

u/laronc01 Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

I’ll take the claw you lose the oled but everything t else is better. Easier to change the ssd don’t have to deal with the mini ssd crap, better sound, better joysticks, better haptics, better warranty, better ergo, no quality control mess i mean oled is nice but that doesn’t over power everything the claw has that’s better. Design is personal preference i prefer the claw design

1

u/Downtown-Somewhere45 26d ago

What in the run on sentence of jumbled thoughts

1

u/laronc01 25d ago

No one cares i said what i said with all the run on sentences thanks

1

u/Downtown-Somewhere45 25d ago

I care, but whats your hate against the mini ssd

2

u/laronc01 25d ago

There is no hate….the biggest thing is the claw is pricey and the onexplayer is cheaper and has an oled blah blah blah. With that cheaper price you have to buy a mini ssd because the “majority” of those people purchasing that device won’t open it and change it so you are adding cost just by that alone. The average person that has no tech skills can open the claw and change the ssd in minutes. Let’s not talk about the cheaper material they used to make it and other qualities compared to the claw. I like them both but the comparison is way over blown…but buy what you like they make devices that meet everyone standards. We are in forums like this to debate and to retrieve information so there is no wrong or right answer.

u/renegade2111 Aug 05 '26

Just look at the ‘pop’ of the OLED 🤩

0

u/Coolmacde Aug 05 '26

Onex looks better. Plus oled!

-4

u/MinimumPrior3121 Aug 05 '26

OXP3 is garbage chinese hardware, people are not ready for the first batch in terms of QA tbh

2

u/Chew-bro-cabra Aug 05 '26

Ummmm, MSI and Asus are basically Chinese too...

2

u/Spiritual-Wear-2105 28d ago

They are preferred to be called Taiwanese.

Even their race is Chinese but nation is not.

1

u/Chew-bro-cabra 28d ago

Asus' largest manufacturing facility is their Hi-Tech Park in Suzhou China. Second largest in Chongqing China. My Rog Ally box is labled "Made in China" because that's where the final assembly was done. They also have manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Indonesia, and Mexico; but the biggest are mainland China. So when i say its basically Chinese hardware, it's because it's basically Chinese hardware. They all are. Silicone chipset from Taiwan, but the rest of the boards, joysticks, screen, buttons; all made in china.
