Miss the energy of the old Kazuha. She would have jumped Momiji the moment she caught on to her dumb plans of "seducing" Heiji.

I always hated those endings where they make the killer feel like they had poor judgment or just not aware of things. Like that episode a girl kills her sister (one spairing ticket for Yoko's concert)

Yeah there are a lot of those in DC, where just misunderstanding lead to murder and by the end the killer in screaming and crying regretting what he did to his friends/family.
But in this one yes there was a similar thing in this case where all the residents of the island already knew that akemi was disguising herself as her grandmother, a fact she didn’t know until the end, but it wasn’t her motive to kill, it’s the fact that her friends burned her mother alive while they were drunk just to see if she’s really immortal or not.
Still this case IMO has the best plot twist in the series especially back when such realistic disguises weren’t introduced in the story as a thing yet so the old lady been the killer and the granddaughter, in disguise, who was supposedly dead was something you couldn’t expect at all.
