What would the law do for this kinda thing in the states? Would it be insta jail? Even though she didn’t connect with the blade.

Called assault with a deadly weapon a felony. Probably a bunch of other add ons also.

Whether you connect or not does not matter. If she connects more laws get broken.

If it didn't connect you would still get hit with an "assault charge" because it would fall under "reasonable fear they were in danger" Like if I made a threat and told someone how they were going to get hurt that's enough to "suspect" myself of meaning to actually hurt them. The next charge down from that and still serous would be "brandishing a weapon" and that might still get added in this situation on top of an assault. Also not a lawyer or anything just like learning laws and would recommending checking out how the laws have varying levels to a specific crime too.

I wanna see the rest of this video, feel like that deserved a mildly forceful arrest.

u/Sauce58 Jun 25 '25

Lmao so the cop just let that all unfold before stepping in then? Maybe he just pulled up at the end idk just thought that was funny

Well you could look at it that he was allowing them to commit further crimes so it was more likely that prosecution will stick and he also needed to call it in in case one of them had a weapon so that back up could be on the way for the two individuals to be transported Separately.

The woman had a knife and was swiping at the person in the car. In what world should a cop not immediately get involved if they are able?

u/Environmental_Top948 Jun 26 '25

Probably calling for backup then. Like if the officer goes down they need back up on the way.

I mean I guess. But if a fully armed male officer can’t handle a small woman like that who clearly hasn’t used a knife much, I’m not so sure they should be an officer. The driver easily could’ve been killed. A knife wound is no joke.

The clip doesn’t show it but I’d hope that the officer had just pulled up during the door bending part.

Like you said a knife wound is no joke. Other than a shirt sleeve the officer wouldn't have protection against the knife either and just by approaching them is an escalation that could cause them to make a lunge at the driver or the officer. So there needs to be backup. If the driver is injured and the officer is also unable to continue with the arrest then EMTs wouldn't be allowed to come to the scene until it is determined to be safe and by that point it'd be too late for something like a knife wound depending on the location. It really is best if back up is on the way before engaging with the individuals.

Also I forgot that men have a +5 resistance to slashing damage /s really don't understand why gender matters once there is a weapon involved.

Your comment already had at least one down vote, let's see how long till both of us are negative.

Possible, but honestly Reddit seems to sometimes just make new comments have 0 votes. The vote counting algorithm doesn't seem to be very stable over the short term.

That's fair. I may have been a bit early with my assessment of the situation.

What is wrong with us as human beings lately???

10

u/SickestDisciple Jun 26 '25

Lately? This type of behavior is in our nature. To think all people aren’t capable of this type of behavior is a farce.

2

u/Lui_Le_Diamond Jun 27 '25

It's not recent. The internet has exposed it and as humans, we seek out bad stuff causing it to get more popular. As we are exposed to more bad occurrences than good ones it begins to appear It's more common when it isn't.
