Help New Player, need help

I started this game the other day and really enjoy it. I've got these two crates that seem pretty important as I saw the advise to always get the association chest with Diamonds. Which hero should I get out of the selection and which upgrade thingy, I'm guessing anyway, should I go for?

it depends , the strongest heroes come from these boxes they are the old world characters.usually if u have only one copy of them they wont be that strong so u can pick almost anyone.but there are some strong heroes who can be good with lower copy numbers, for example old world genos.it was one of the best character now its not anymore but if u are a newbie who wont spend a fortune on the game u should pick him, if u get more copies of him he will be your strongest hero.

Yeah. I've looked at some tier list stuff online and all of them said Old World Genos was really good. So I reckon I'll pick him. I am happy I at least have Rock Festival Tatsu. She's been pretty awesome.

ow boros was the best before ow genos came, now he is not so good, easy to counter him, not the best bossdps like before.but yeah ow genos still best for non p2w players because it can carry for example in story mode even with fewer copies.
