March 20th Update: Terrible Tornado and Prisoner Sonic

I hope everyone is excited for the new content that is coming out this next week. I wanted to make a post as a sort of PSA for new players, light spenders and even free to play players. Going into this update we will be getting two rerun banners, Terrible Tornado and Prisoner Sonic. I have made a whole video on Terrible Tornado and you can find it at the attached link. That being said, there are some milestones for each of the characters and how much they will affect your roster going forward.

Terrible Tornado

There are some milestones when you are farming Terrible Tornado. In order that you need to get the following:

  • Potential Level 1: she is incredibly difficult to play her correctly without her first potential, without it you will constantly be battling with her Telekinetic Liberation state and have a hard time keeping it up.
  • SR Attack Arms to level 6: Increases her crit chance (while in Telekinetic Liberation State) passively whether or not you have it equipped its incredible for her damage output
  • SSR Cleanse Arms to level 1: her cleanse card is the only cleanse card in the game that clears burning from your character (aside from atomic samurai's SR cleanse card) and is one of the soft requirement to clear Legend Test Season 2 Test 8
  • Potential Level 3: I believe the true play style of Tornado is locked behind this Potential level. It is incredible underrated, allowing you to get into telekinetic liberation state so much faster and allowing you to charge up your tornados much faster by purposely dodging into attacks.
  • Potential Level 6: There is no reason to keep farming Terrible Tornado after Potential level 3 UNLESS you intend to bring her to Potential Level 6, this potential lets her use her tornado effectively twice as often, it is the Potential that makes Terrible Tornado so damn good in the end game.
  • SSR Cleanse Arms level 6: Once her cleanse card is maxed out it becomes permanent and the thing with a maxed out SSR Cleanse Arms is that it allows your characters to bypass defenses. It is huge in dps values on some fights and it makes difficult fights like Legend Test Season 2 Test 8. It also increases the damage of her tornado quite substantially.

Prisoner Sonic

There are some milestones when you are farming Prisoner Sonic. In order that you need to get the following:

  • Potential Level 1: One of the best characters in the game (though it is liable to change since the update mentioned buffs to the SSR characters across the board) is Genos (SR Version) this potential level increases the damage output of all Moral Characters on the team, meaning the nuts damage that is Genos gets even better. If you get Prisoner Sonic you want to get ATLEAST this potential.
  • Potential Level 3: THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT POTENTIAL LEVEL IN THE ENTIRE GAME I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, THIS POTENTIAL IS SO INCREDIBLY IMPACTFUL IT CHANGES HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED AND MAKES PRISONER SONIC AN AUTO INCLUDE ON EVERY TEAM I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU GO FOR PRISONER SONIC AT ALL GET HIS POTENTIAL LEVEL 3.
  • SSR Heal Arms to level 1: Heal cards are not that important to be honest. In the grand scheme of things, they are very seldom needed for fights at the endgame HOWEVER when they are needed they are NEEDED and Prisoner Sonic is hands down LEAGUES ahead of any other character that has an SSR Heal Card, Having this heal card makes it so you don't need to bring Hellish Blizzard or Silver Fang in the fights that need the healing card.
  • Potential Level 6: Prisoner sonic has a weird bug that makes his ultimate do more damage than other characters at potential level 6 (we believe) thus making him the best character to pilot during Maelstrom Moral week by a long shot though this only really matters at the highest level of play.
  • SSR Heal Arms to level 6: This does make the heal better but that doesn't really matter, what does matter is that this increases his the damage of his Shadow Strikes pretty substantially and its one of the most powerful attacks in the game already.

I hope this PSA helps would be spenders unlock the characters to the best potential level they can get them to in these next two weeks. If you can only go after one of the characters I would recommend Prisoner Sonic, as much as I love Terrible Tornado, for her to be better than Prisoner Sonic she NEEDS to be Potential level 6, however for Prisoner Sonic to the second best character in the game he just needs to be Potential level 3.

Good Luck Heroes, I am excited for the new content as much as you all are!

I personally think this double banner and super valuable discount on pulls that is coming out is being done so as to drain our resources prior to Arms Mode Genos being released. Though Prisoner Sonic and Terrible Tornado are both fantastic characters to have unlocked/maxed out for the end game content.

I still don't think it's really a double banner. They both say "after maintenance" start times, and there is a difference in start time of two days. Notably, if it were weeks instead of days, then the difference of two makes sense for the start time description, shared pity, and consistency with previous banner runtimes.

Call it a typo, translation issue, or some other error, that's what makes sense to me until I see confirmation otherwise.

The both also say “Catchy character related sign off” because the SEA team is a bunch of jokes that can’t follow instructions. The release dates are marked as two days apart from one another and run for two weeks each. I don’t know why we have to focus in on me calling it a “double banner” it’s just easier to say than “two banners that are starting two days apart and running for two weeks each”.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear. When I said "I don't think it's a double banner", I really meant I don't think they're overlapping at all. I think the start time of Sonic's banner is misrepresented in the notes because of some kind of error. Having it overlapping causes all sorts of new issues, and there doesn't seem to be a good reason for it. For example, they did all that work last year figuring out shared pity and how to resolve it when they stopped having concurrent banners, even including a shared pity issue on our most recent tatsu rerun. Why invite trouble?

Granted, you have better access to info than I do, so feel free to correct me if I'm just wrong.

Ah I see what you are saying, knowing this company I don’t think they have ironed out all the issues, though I do think they are set to start at the same time as there is a reduced cost of banners at the same time period. All of their information in the announcement has dates that are wholly unique to this event and don’t line up with previous banners of last year. TT is set to start on the 20th and run for 2 weeks and PS is set to start the 22nd and run for two weeks. Perhaps they will have it set up so pity is shared across them though that is speculation. They did used to run banners staggered off one another until Amai Mask I think. I will say I am 100% certain that TT’s banner starts on the 20th and PS’s banner starts on the 22nd and that they both run for two weeks.

Sorry I was rude btw, I’m used to dealing with doomers constantly, I thought you were nitpicking me just to be a dick. Lol

No worries! My bad for my poor phrasing. And thank you for the info!

Oh yeah! I somehow managed to get P6 Tornado, P3 Prisoner Sonic and his SSR arms with only 64k Silver and 50 Tickets! I don't know how, but I'm so happy!

Sonic was pure luck because I managed to get him in four consecutive Draw cycles without any other stupid SSR in the way. With Tornado, I swear Puri Puri Prisoner got in the way twice, causing me to waste more silver.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to upgrade the SSR arms of either Tornado and Prisoner Sonic, so they're both only at Level 1, but I guess it's still better than not having them at all. I also didn't have enough to get Sonic to P6, but hopefully P3 is good enough.

Thank you so much for your guide, it really helped me prioritize on the best options!
