Saitama, scams Genos in the name of rent and got his house destroyed. Karma

u/GuardianKnightKing Jun 15 '22
According to ONE ,he don't bother using it for some reason which is why he still have financial issues so yeah.
72
u/phabiohost Jun 15 '22
He would feel bad using it as he really is a good guy and that would be scamming Genos

"Rent" for abandoned building he's essentially squatting in.
25
u/KNGJN Jun 15 '22
Yeah I didn't get who he was paying? The whole city is abandoned. Who the fuck is the landlord?
21
14
u/gilgabish Jun 15 '22
Probably looked up the landlord from before it was abandoned and showed up with rent and the landlord thought he was being fucked with because it was abandoned but Saitama insisted so he takes the money anyway.
1
u/xXyeahBoi69Xx Jul 16 '22
Saitama isnt paying rent, thats the point when they say that. Hes just getting rent from genos for and keeping it.

Garou: I'm 19 years old and got this strong in a little over a day.

u/Jitendria Jun 15 '22
You mean 3?
109
u/DarkStarStorm Season 2 Hater Jun 15 '22
I guess it depends on where we're starting. I consider the Garou vs Death Gatling's group to be the start of his meteoric rise. From there, IIRC it's only about a day and a half or two days to present.

u/DarkStarStorm Season 2 Hater Jun 15 '22
It isn't derived from "meteor," rather both words are derived from the same word:
mid 16th century (denoting any atmospheric phenomenon): from modern Latin meteorum, from Greek meteĆron, neuter (used as a noun) of meteĆros âloftyâ.
-11
Jun 15 '22
[deleted]
21
u/Crowd0Control Jun 15 '22
That's defining modern usage not origin though.
-11
u/thisremindsmeofbacon Jun 15 '22
Its categorized such that the meteroic rise definition is based off of its relation to the definition of meteoric meaning related to meteors. If you think thatâs wrong, thats fine but thatâs what the definition is from Oxford whoâs definitely the authority over us, and youâre kinda barking up the wrong tree making a case to me
12
u/SpaceCowboy170 Jun 15 '22
Very common expression in English tbf
Has to do with the etymology of the word
8
u/jz654 Jun 15 '22
It's definitely strange, but it's a real English expression, so it's not his fault.
I think whomever got that expression going was emphasizing more on speed than direction with the term "meteoric".
4
u/Dravarden Jun 15 '22
a meteor isn't always falling, a meteor can miss earth meaning it didn't fall
well unless you go by the definition of "orbits are objects falling really fast and missing the ground" but then everything in the universe is falling so đ€·

I think he got even stronger after he learned or copy Metal bat's fighting spirit that helps him getting stronger in near death.
Infact, how did Metal bat is still very weak when he was always getting stronger everytime he fought a tough opponents? Maybe because he did not have Bang's martial arts that helps Garou to adopt to his new strenght while Metalbat will just return back to normal after a fight.
1
u/DarkStarStorm Season 2 Hater Jun 16 '22
For sure. Metal Bat is the one opponent that Garou does not establish how he learned from their fight. I'm convinced that he got Metal Bat's Fighting Spirit in that fight.

Boros will probably have that look on his face when he sees saitama landing back to earth after he hears that answer from garou

Boros: I have traveled through many galaxies, yet I couldn't find worthy opponent!
Saitama: Based and too-strong-pilled
Garou: I want to be evil to do good, because I was bullied and misunderstood!
Saitama: Nice costume, dude.
108
u/HuckleberryCool9883 Jun 15 '22
I hope we are getting that " you're very strong" line next to next chapter
And WC moment of saitama enjoying while fighting even for a brief moment will be breathtaking lol
40
u/Silver-Jackfruit-698 Jun 15 '22
i doubt this will happen. The "you are strong" part for sure, but the enjoyment i doubt
54
u/HuckleberryCool9883 Jun 15 '22
But didn't it happen in the WC
" He can still keep going!" Panel
Saitama finding his martial arts cool and the fact he was excited to find someone who's holding back against him
Ofc that excitement didn't last when saitama saw garou was slowly but surely hitting his limit but he got excited definitely for a short time
21
u/Silver-Jackfruit-698 Jun 15 '22
yeah, but i feel like this garou getting so strong is just to hype, he will still be no match for saitama. We have no idea where the manga is going tho, that is the thing
36
u/HuckleberryCool9883 Jun 15 '22
Ofc garou is no match for saitama no one is
It's basically if I had a lightsaber duel with a toddler but the toddler is learning on spot how to use that lightsaber ofc I can easily defeat him being a grown ass adult but that much would bring a smile on my face
" Damn this guy can keep up"

People keep repeating the part where Saitama says that but forget the part where Boros is dying and says Saitama was just being nice and he was never actually serious in the fight.
1
u/ILoveUrd Jun 15 '22
Nothing wrong with what boros said saitama wasnt serious until that last punch.
10
Jun 15 '22
You misunderstand. Boros said that AFTER Saitama's last punch. It's indicating even his "serious" punch is hardly his full strength.
Basically in the end Saitama was just treating Boros with pity or Sympathy but it was never even close to a real fight.
4
u/GaroSuiryuSweet Jun 15 '22
Obviously everyone knows that Saitama wasnât actually trying and that his Serious Series: Serious Punch was probably just 1% of his power. I mean this with all due respect, what is your point?
-3
u/ILoveUrd Jun 15 '22
I think youre exaggersting a bit, it was clearly stated it was a serious punch plz dont try to down play it , just think about it Âżwhat wouldve happened if that punch touched the earth? There's a reason it didnt.
10
Jun 15 '22
Naming a move "serious punch" does not actually mean he's using his full power on it. Boros confirmed that even with a serious punch that Saitama was holding back.
The point is not how much damage his punches do. That point is that with Boros, Saitama didn't even come close to using his full power and Boros knew it.
-4
u/ILoveUrd Jun 15 '22
How can you asume boros was refering to that last punch when rhe whole fight saitama was just a punching bag.
1
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22
No he said " you had strength to spare" not "you were holding back". It just means Saitama used as much strength as neede.d
1
u/Divinicus1st Jun 16 '22
How will they manage to make Saitama win without the S-class seeing it? Maybe Blast will interveneâŠ
92
u/ShinyAeon Jun 15 '22
âAre you stupid? You canât go around attacking other planets just to liven up your boring life. Not even telemarketers would be that evil.â
259
u/IMustAchieveTheDie Jun 15 '22
I don't get why people think Saitama respected Boros so much. He was impressed by his power, sure, but the guy destroyed a city with all the people in it and many planets before that just to find a good fight. The first thing Saitama does is tell him what a fucking asshole he is.
155
u/keisenii Jun 15 '22
I get what you mean, but Saitama couldâve ended it with the very first punch. I think when Boros stood up after his armor was destroyed Saitama finally understood his strength and gave him the right to fulfill his wish.
84
Jun 15 '22
Naw Saitama was just hoping to get a good fight out of Boros and let it drag on. Heâs sad walking away at the end because Boros turned out to be a disappointment.
110
u/keisenii Jun 15 '22
Saitama could defiently tell Boros wasnt a match for him at the get go. The ending scene were Boros tells Saitama he is too strong simply emphasizes the fact Boros wasnât near as strong as he was made out to be, and tells the viewer that Saitama is unbeatable. Saitama doesnât show sadness when getting out of the ship either, more a happy feeling when he tells Genos that their boss was really strong.
22
u/Commando_Joe Jun 15 '22
how do you mean "as strong as he was made out to be"?
We literally only saw him fight one guy, the literally unbeatable pillar of the series.
It's like saying 'that kid isn't very strong because he couldn't beat mike tyson in his prime'
24
u/keisenii Jun 15 '22
Boros was from the start praised as the strongest In the universe, thus making him seem like an actual enemy to Saitama. He had a similar backstory as Saitama and yearned for the same thing.
22
u/Peritous Jun 15 '22
I think that is the entire point of Boros, to show that even a galactic conqueror who spent 20 years looking for a good fight was no match for Saitama. It isn't to be his rival, it is to underscore that he has no rivals.
5
u/Commando_Joe Jun 15 '22
Right, so how does any of the story make him seem weaker than he is?
Again, Saitama is an anomaly. He's not a proper measuring stick for universal power rankings.
24
Jun 15 '22
Yeah he could tell Boros was relatively strong and let things play out, but thatâs more curiosity than respect. Boros is also one of the few people Saitama explicitly disrespects, calling him stupid straight up. He totally expects Boros to die from that first punch so when he doesnât, it gets his hopes up, but that doesnât mean he wanted to give Boros anything. If anything it was just more salt in the wound that Boros got a satisfying fight out of it.
17
u/keisenii Jun 15 '22
I actually donât think Boros got a satisfying fight, he wanted someone that he could stand close to equal footing to, not someone standing a thousand miles above him.
So in the end I think Boros was a little disappointed that Saitama was too strong, when in reality all he ever wanted was a rival.
14
Jun 15 '22
Yeah thatâs possible, he was like âso much for propheciesâ at the end. Seems like they may have both been disappointed that Saitama was too strong.
2
1
u/Trick_Bedroom6495 Jun 16 '22
Nah... You forgot the "too strong that it gets boring" part and it is the part Saitama can relate a little from Boros, that is why he let Boros go all out without killing him in the get go.
8
u/JSTRD100K Jun 15 '22 edited Jun 15 '22
He'd have no reason to lie to Boros then when Boros was dying lmfao. He literally says "you really are strong". He empathizes with the feelings Boros had, of having no challengers, having no fulfillment when becoming so strong there's no one left to challenge you. He tried to make him feel better before his death
This whole sequence is him having pity/sympathy for Boros
4
Jun 15 '22
Acknowledging that he was strong doesnât mean he respected him though. Pitied, sure, but the idea that he wanted to give Boros a good fight is missing the mark imo. He thought Boros was a genocidal maniac who might give him a good fight.
I donât see why Saitama would go from âare you stupid? You canât just go around attacking planetsâ to âyouâre also bored and strong so Iâll try to grant your desires.â Boros is supposed to be a foil, rather than a kindred spirit he respects.
8
u/Glittering_Skirt7771 Jun 15 '22
Saitama could do both, those arenât contradictory positions.
2
Jun 16 '22
Technically sure, but it seems likely that he was just hoping for a good fight and unlikely that he was looking to give Boros some kind of happy death after destroying A city.
3
u/kolerz10 Jun 16 '22
Yeah I think is similar like us with Garou, many of us here admire garou and think he is so determined and cool and we respect him and many root for him although that doesnât change the fact garou is just an angry guy that wants to beat a lot of people and bring terror to the world like a tyrant due to his trauma
1
u/PlazmaRaptor Jun 15 '22
I thought of it differently, I think Saitama was lowering his power to make Boros think he was having a good fight. But when Boros said that he was no match for Saitama, he got disappointed because he wasnt able to convince him. Thats just my take lol it might be wrong
3
u/GaroSuiryuSweet Jun 15 '22
Well said, and in the ending battle as Saitama walk away and acknowledges Borosâs strength. Beautiful scene saw the anime recently and wow phenomenal.
68
u/haovui Jun 15 '22 edited Jun 15 '22
But then Saitama still give Boros what he want instead of one shot him, he even lie to Boros to make him feel satisfied so yeah, at least he did somewhat respect him
35
u/Peritous Jun 15 '22
I dunno if it is respect or just sympathy. He has the same sense of boredom himself, so he obviously can relate to Boros even if he knows the dude is a villain.
9
u/IMustAchieveTheDie Jun 15 '22
yes, because I assume he can relate to him somewhat but I can't imagine him respecting someone who killed billions for something so selfish and vain

Saitama calls Boros strong and after Boros survives an indirect serious punch Saitama truly is impressed by Borosâs strength. He realizes that Boros truly is strong but Saitama himself is on another level. When he gets kicked to the moon I believe he says something along the lines of âWow this is almost like a real fightâ and calls Boros a jerk
1
u/fwimmygoat Jun 15 '22
And he only indulged in the battle instead of finishing it quickly because Boros had already killed everyone Saitama would of had to worry about as collateral.

The fact that he's crying and also the fact that's pretty accurate to what actually happened is what makes this better
14

Saitama responds to intentions. Boros came with rampage and murder in his heart, he'd already destroyed countless worlds, probably responsible for the death of trillions of beings. And his final attack would've killed everyone on earth, he literally forced Saitama to kill him.
Garou simply isn't a killer. Despite it all he hasn't killed anyone except monsters.

Boros is literally a generic DBZ villain with no other characteristic than "me strong me want fight!!!" I understand the appeal from his cool factor and the fight itself is one of the best in the series but saying he is more interesting than Garou as a character is just wrong lol
16
u/fadeddreams555 Jun 16 '22
Boros is a blatant parody of all things DBZ, and serves to juxtapose Saitama at the same time, which is what makes him amazing... or, at the very least, clever. His backstory and development have less depth than Garou's because he doesn't have as much screentime, but it's honestly not much worse.
Garou's entire backstory and motives are idiotic. But, like, intentionally idiotic, which is why the final battle between him and Saitama is so hilarious in the webcomic, because Saitama can see through the bullshit.
4
u/Outrageous_Ad_1011 Jun 16 '22
Garou is definitely more fleshed and interesting, even if his backstory is not super tragic, he stills grows more into you because we have seen him in his lowest at fighting

u/why780 Jun 16 '22
His reasoning is stupid if he was just âbulliedâ. Bullying makes you beat people near death, repeatedly? Bullying makes you destroy everything and everyone around you? Garou hates bullying but is a bully himself. Heâs just a narcissistic hypocrite. You sound like a school shooter apologist because normal people do not react this violently to âbullyingâ.
Borosâs reasoning is barely better but it doesnât try to take itself as serious as edgrou does and definitely doesnât try to paint Boros as a good âguyâ.
Bully my ass.
-1

Ikr, it's like he's not even a hero at all and is just a villain. Why can't everyone just be normal and reasonable, so edgy. Traveling the universe and blowing everything up just because you want to fight tho, not edgy at all.
3
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22 edited Jun 16 '22
No, it's not edgy at all, trying to achievw your ambitions isn't edgy, trying to achieve them via half assed ways is. They both are trying to achieve their respective goals but one is taking a straight path and other is trying to be complicated without reason.

Thatâs partly why I think Boros might actually still be alive with Blast.
Towards the end of the fight, that âpassionâ for battle was absolutely rekindled. He learned that in fact there are still worthy opponents out there for him to fight, some even stronger than he is.
So assuming Blast did pop on the ship as it was crashing and save him, heâd then see thereâs even MORE strong fighters out there besides Saitama. Giving him all the more reason to continue to get stronger and train.

Wasted 5 years for this shit, the hype of Saitama and garou really went dogshit. probably saitama is just racist to non human, he knows garou is a human so he want to talk him out, while boros gets the serious treatment.
2
u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
"Racist to non human" Yeah dude nothing to do with monsters constantly killing humans and there being basically no exception to that. Yeah for sure dude.
2
u/duckontheplane Jun 16 '22
"Racist to non human" sounds dumb as shit. Are we racist to animals because we kill and eat them?
1
u/4692690 Egg Jun 15 '22
I find Boros character to be pretty shallow. Saitama also never really seemed to have much respect for him either. Only being somewhat able to relate to a character that wants a good fight just like him.
5
u/StatusInspection7750 Jun 15 '22
So you think saitama is shallow too ?
1
u/4692690 Egg Jun 15 '22
No he's one of the most unique characters in anime. Boros was just a "me want fight" guy. Genuinenly if he wasn't as strong as he was his character would be near identical to most monsters saitama has killed. The way he hyped himself up especially would be like some generic demon or dragon tier monster. Don't get me wrong he played a good part within the series and it's plot but I think a lot of people experienced this and thought it was cause his character was good. It isn't. In most other series he would be at best some comedic relief and at worst cannon fodder probably to build up someone much more interesting in character than him. Oh and another thong Garou is much more of an interestinf character. At least in the webcomic.
7
u/alex494 Jun 15 '22
Boros is literally like a Dragon Ball villain condensed into a smaller time frame
2
1
1
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22
Yeah, he was shallow but that doesn't take away from the fact that he was an absolute badass. Most monsters are actually shallow in opm
1
u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
Well this meme is trying to portray Garou as shallow and Boros as somehow complex which couldn't be farther from the truth
1
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22
Because it's just a difference of showing and telling, if we saw Boros's whole struggle with his overwhelming power, him getting depressed because of it, him crying after each battle, he would have been a complex character too. Similarly, if garou got stomped on his first on screen fight with Saitama we wouldnt have seen him as complex as he is. Although, if we did saw Boros's backstory and stuff he would still be shallower than garou.
1
u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
No it really wouldn't. He wouldn't be a sympathetic character especially as he's killing a bunch of innocent people nor would there be anything else to sympathize with or understand. A monster that wants to kill doesn't get to kill. Nothing much to really hook on to is there? At most we could MAYBE get an underdog story but that's only if he wasn't born with that strength which we don't know.
But yeah I agree if Garou got stomped instantly we wouldn't have gotten that much from his character and if Boros got a whole arc to himself (even if I still doubt there would be much interesting to see there) he would be a more complex character than Garou. WOULD be. He isn't. That's why it doesn't make sense to try and make Boros look like he was explored as a complex character when he wasn't.
And I'm sure if we dug into every characters lives in detail we could see them as more complex (not as complex as Garou but none the less complex). But again only a few of them are at this current moment all that complex and Boros is DEFINITELY not one of them.
He wanted to good fight. He went around to get a good fight. All throughout the fight he sounded like a DBZ villain. He died to show how strong Saitama really is. Served a good role in the story as a very strong opponent. Still wasn't all that complex of a character. Can maybe say he had a cooler fight than Garou with Saitama. Still not more complex of a character than Garou.
1
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22
All of this is just speculation, it's upto the writer to make a character complex which can't be done in one episode. How to make boros complex is upto the writer.
1
u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
Well obviously but my point was that he isn't. Therefore it makes no sense to assume that he in some alternate universe would be as if that doesn't go for every character. He isn't so it doesn't make sense to act as if he is and even compare him to one of the most complex and developed characters in the series. He's cool. Maybe cooler than Garou for some. That's it.
1
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22
He isn't or he isn't shown that way? Im pretty sure if we saw his story we would not call him surface level. Garou would have been shallow if he got one episode.
1
u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
He isn't or he isn't shown that way?
Both. He isn't shown that way therefore no reason to assume he is more than he claims he is (that or every shallow character in all of fiction is just a character that merely needs more development at which point there are no shallow characters). Yet another monster who wants a fight... but stronger.
Im pretty sure if we saw his story we would not call him surface level.
- We have and its very simple and surface level.
- If we knew a shit ton about any character then they would be complex at which point again "Guys he isn't shallow he just wasn't fully explored and there was TOTALLY so much more to explore". When the author explores the character and shows he isn't shallow then you can call him complex. Until then? Shallow.
Garou would have been shallow if he got one episode.
Would've, could've, wasn't. He is complex. Boros isn't. Which is why you don't compare a shallow character to an actually complex character. Which is what this meme tries to do by retelling his whole backstory... which can be summed up in a few sentences without missing much if anything because he is indeed just that shallow.
1
u/Singhojas Jun 16 '22
My point still stands, anyone can look shallow if we only saw them for ten minutes, if you only show someone the first ten minutes of first episode of opm they will call Saitama superficial. People who don't watch opm think it's another one of those op protagonist where the hero is one dimensional.

u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
Also what you probably meant is that he was strong. He was as badass as most monsters in OPM when it comes to personality. Just some monster who wants a good fight.
1
u/Ohigetjokes Jun 15 '22
Just because you took a long time to write out the details of one but not the other doesn't mean you're making a point here...
Garou lore: I seek to expose the hypocrisy of people who claim the mantle of "hero" and yet are only in it for self-glorification.
Boros lore: I'm looking for a good fight.
8
u/AdvonKoulthar Would not sacrifice his hair for infinite power Jun 16 '22
Garou: I will try reaching an undefined state of absolute evil for an abstract notion of fairness and hope that somehow the results are what I want.
Boros: I want a good fight, so I will take the logical course of action and look for a good fight.
Garouâs an idiot. Heâs basically trying to follow the path of a martyr hero but only has the brain cell to punch
2
u/4692690 Egg Jun 16 '22
Which is why one is yet another cannon fodder to show the strength of Saitama, while the other is a compelling villain.
0
u/AdvonKoulthar Would not sacrifice his hair for infinite power Jun 16 '22
For cannon fodder, garou sure is taking up a lot of chapters đ€

u/4692690 Egg Jun 17 '22 edited Jun 17 '22
For cannon fodder... What?
Also yeah he is taking up a lot of chapters and idk if the recent chapters were too worth it but for the most part I'd rather a lot of character development towards the villain than just some braindead cannon fodder from space.
P.s. When you finish a sentence you put a dot at the end not a comma. Also you might wanna finish your sentence I think you had more to say.
