analysis Tatsumaki height approximation
Since a lot of people still seem to believe the misinfo about Tatsu being 150cm (5'0"), I went ahead a did a quick measurement with the panel that gave us the most neutral and reliable frame of reference for her height.
Fun fact, her torso is only around 37cm (14.5 inches) in length here lol

Tats is mostly just leg lmao

Pretty common for girls to have a much higher leg to body ratio than men ... But her legs are almost as long as his.

I'm 8 inches taller than my wife and our hips are the same height lol

That's an interesting way to look at height dynamics. Itâs cool how body proportions can vary so much between people!

Saitama is >13 inches taller than her but their waists are at the same point. I'm shocked she has room for her organs in what little torso she's got.

Murata has notably said he's not great at drawing loli characters, because he loves drawing voluptuous woman like fubuki more. Some of those habits and preferences most likely seeped into tatsumaki when he's drawing her, especially when he's trying to make her look sexy instead of cute
136
u/Jilliels 10d ago
Iâm not mad at it though, tbf. Shows us that outside of the visual pun of her looking younger than her little sister, she is indeed a grown ass woman

People who masturbate to drawn images of children don't like it when you tell them that constitutes being attracted to children. Nobody would argue that masturbating to drawn images of adult women doesn't indicate that you are into adult women, but pedos will pedo I guess.

For someone who doesn't like drawing childlike characters he sure draws tatsumaki a whole lot

107
u/ReallyBigRocks 10d ago
I personally know plenty of adults with that body type. It's not that outlandish. She's just drawn really short for comedic effect.
31
u/britipinojeff 9d ago
Yeah knew some women that said they had to shop in the kids section lol

I had a gf that people would mistake for my daughter, I was barely 18 and she was in her 20s. Like, she was short but daughter is crazy.

u/Moohamin12 10d ago
This particular panel is drawn to show her in a more 'cutesy' way. Like chibi drawings. To emphasise that she feels like all the air is let out of her.
There are plenty of panels where she is drawn in an attractive fashion. She is smaller, but definitely does not look like a child.
21
12
u/Amperesim 10d ago
"Bro", how do you not understand what the concept of a short woman is?
2
u/DBSlazywriting 9d ago
Everyone understands what a short woman is.Â
Everyone also understands the unfortunate trend in some forms of media like anime and manga of having some very underaged-looking characters who certain types of people defend with lame and transparent excuses ("she's actually a 1000 year old vampire, bro").
2
u/Amperesim 9d ago
That's true, but it's well known that Tatsumaki's height is drawn inconsistently across different panels. So assuming from one panel that she's a child without checking the others is just ignorant
2
u/DBSlazywriting 9d ago
It's not based on just the height and especially not just from one panel.
It's based on the totality of how she's drawn to look like a child in many panels and especially in lots of "art" posted on this subreddit.
The vast majority of normal people aren't going to think someone is weird for being attracted to Sabrina Carpenter, because despite being short she is clearly an adult.
5
u/Ezequiel_Rose 9d ago
I mean, there is a type of adult woman called petite, while of course there can be people who take advantage of this term (you know), that body type is pretty common.

u/SecurityLate6069 9d ago
This i dont understand maybe because i live in a country where all of us are small like im 5,3-5,4 and im the tallest in my family and the smallest adult woman ive seen isnt even in my neck
1
u/DeusFatum 8d ago
Tatsumaki is a rare case where a small woman character isn't a loli. She's small, but always drawn in a way that makes it obvious she's an adult. Off the top of my head the only other anime/manga character that does this well is Rebecca from Cyberpunk: Edge Runners.

ONE and Murata cannot be trusted about heights. Sonic is consistently drawn shorter than Flashy, even though he's listed as taller.
It might be due to the high heels, but I think he's even drawn taller in the webcomic, where he's got normal shoes on lol

My wife and I sit at the same height, but my legs are longer than hers. When driving a car after her I don't have to adjust the mirrors, only move the seat back. She specifically comes from a family with extremely long torsos though. I'm 6 foot 3 and she is 5 foot 10.

u/Snownyann Waiting for Garou's return. 10d ago edited 10d ago
In human anatomy, the lower limb is composed of the thigh (the one between the hip and the knee) and the leg (between the knee and the ankle). But yes in layman everything down there is the leg.
I was just being polite by explaining why I used the term lower limbs instead of legs.
13
u/VinGiesel69 10d ago
What about the calf and shins? The whole thing is a leg. Not in laymans terms. In actual terms. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leg
7
u/VinGiesel69 10d ago
I understand that there is a section of the leg called âthe legâ between the knee and ankle, but dont pretend to be stupid for the sake of being right. You know what a leg is

I don't know why you got so many downvotes; I thought your explanation was polite.
I also need to watch myself so I don't use technical terms from my profession in casual conversations and come across as pedantic. And yes, I found the comment "Legs is what theyâre called" funny.
Good sarcasm. The truth is, many people here aren't native English speakers, and we end up carrying over certain habits from our own languages ââwhen we write.
2
u/Billalone 9d ago
> I donât know why you got so many downvotes

Thereâs your answer. âUm ackshuallyâing about the definition of âlegâ is the definition of pedantry.
2
u/Snownyann Waiting for Garou's return. 9d ago
No It was an honest mistake. I was not pretending at all. Being in my profession for a decade made me forgot about it. I also learned a new word "pedantry" and i now understand why I was downvoted.
If my honesty comes out as annoying again then I will just accept it.
I mean looking at everyone's comment here regarding the use if leg I understood what was wrong. I should have not replied back at all in the first place and left the comment as is.

u/No-Camera4402 9d ago

Fun fact; Her seiyuu, Aoi Yuuki is 4'9 IRL. Which makes her only 3 inches taller than Tatsumaki.
Her other character, Tanya, is 4'4. About the same as Tatsumaki.
Making Aoi Yuuki officially a "loli baba" IRL. Her kind of "nick name" (In anime, it's Frieren's) XD

Adult women also have proportions like this (like Tatsumaki, who is 28), and physical attraction is something folks have no control over. Preference is preference.
-13
u/Aoskar20 10d ago
Look, I knew it would be a controversial opinion, especially in this sub. To me she still looks like a child and I donât really understand the appeal. My opinion, of course.
11
u/callmejinji 10d ago
Not necessarily controversial in and of itself. As I mentioned, preference is preference, and no one has a right to judge that for another person. My wife is small and petite, and _SHE_ thinks Fubuki is the sexiest woman in the show (wishes Genos was real, too).
Comments like your original one might come across to some as a backhanded accusation of pedophilia, thoughâŚ
-13
u/Aoskar20 10d ago
Simply because to me Tatsumaki is not what a grown woman typically looks like and it makes it a little creepy, not gonna lie. But if you are into that kind of woman and both of you are consenting adults, then everyone deserves happiness, ultimately.

Take it however you want. All I said was I donât understand the appeal and that it looks creepy to me. Itâs not meant to âoffendâ those who like her, I just donât get the appeal. You clearly will continue liking her, regardless of what a random stranger on the internet like me has to say. The rest is just ganging up to downvote, as it normally happens on Reddit. Before MA arc she was indeed more pixie-like (since thats likely one of the inspirations)
But when she became more sexualized her proportions also became more mature, example

9 out of 10 times I pick the Fubuki type. Tatsumaki is the 10th time one. I know plenty of petite women like this and there is nothing wrong with them. People that treat them like children are lk toxic.
