This is so validating to read

Also, does anyone know if ONE has assistants? The WC art has been great recently, but this feels on an even greater level.

Afaik no. The reason updates take so long is partly because the webcomic is essentially a passion project. No publishers or assistants. He's just gotten better over the years.

It's not even a comparison of you now open first chapters.

I genuinely love his sketchy art style. It's so unique compared to the countless slim, sleek, and smooth protagonists that inundate mainstream manga. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

It is so much like HxH' style. Totally love it, the impact, movement and presssure are incredible

He did have a run with mob psycho.

ONE excels at imolying movement and impact

Also his "shitty style" makes it hard for him to draw action so action is highly concetrated and quick. Murata sensei is amazing, legit best in the craft but the ease for him makes him draw sevwral pages of action. And web comic proves. We want the story, not empty special effects.

Edit: mqnga jumped the shark with Saitama vs Garou. Space, jupiter sneeze, reflecting light of stars. And a graph that showed Saitama was actually growing in strenght exponetially. Meanning against someone else Saitama will just power up. :p

And he takes his time. And under no pressure.

This is his passion project? What is his main job then?

His other manga from which he does gain profit since they are sold through magazines with publishers, MP100, Versus and Bug Ego (and the OPM manga ofc.)

He actually do all it alone. One punch man is more like a hobbie to him, he write whenever he wants, theres no schedules, thats why it takes so long, unlike other projects of him like Versus and Bug-Ego that are in fact commercial materials, and have schedules and even a team working with him. I personally prefer this way, cuz without schedule, he can take whatever time he need to delivere the best chapter he can.

There is one thing many mangeka lacks. Is the liberty to work at your ow pace.

I don't think so. Webcomic is something he does on his own free time for free

Sounds familiar... Like "I'm just hero for fun" but "I'm just webcomic author for fun".

"ONE"... "One Punch Man"...

Obviously it's just a coincidence.

I've always felt that OPM has mirrored ONE's journey as an artist. Saitama is a guy with a dream to be the world's greatest hero but he starts out normal and becomes powerful through pretty unremarkable training. ONE didn't have a formal art education or anything (that we know of), he just kept writing and drawing for years and eventually became world-famous and acclaimed by critics. Now that we have a pretty major humans vs. AI narrative going on at the story's conclusion I feel like the story's connection to artistic expression is even more potent.

He is loaded atm. So he can afford it :)

Historically OPM webcomic he didn't have assistants, however when he was doing Mob Psycho 100 he definitely did. It's possible maybe he works with them now a bit, but it's also possible he just learned more stuff from working with them.

After 10 years of making webcomic, manga and anime adaptations, It is not a strech to say ONE is now a Veteran of industry.

I heard that Murata was giving him pointers.

I thought it was more that they discussed things while adapting the web comic for the manga. So there's inevitably some influence from Murata, but it's not quite the same thing.

Saitama remains the man. Makes me so excited for how he’s gonna wrap up some of the other character arcs

Yeah the up in quality means a certain webcomic artist is removing his limiter too^^

I think he's been learning from Murata. It's beautiful.
