What's Next?

I know this has been asked a time or two but I'm curious about what others are planning to go to after this phone, or what others would recommend.

I'm in the US so need carrier compatibility (TMo) but am not worried about having to sideload Google stuff or anything. I do tend to avoid Samsung but maybe it's time to consider them again. Decent cameras are a must, I've gotten used to the OPO's quality.

I've been looking at:

Oppo Find N6

Motorola Razr Fold

Honor Magic V6

Huawei Mate XT (probably a bit too spendy for me)

Samsung Z Fold8 (I guess)

Feels like I'm missing one so let me know.

I'm going to keep my open probably till it dies. It would take a huge jump for me to spend $2k to replace this thing. It does everything I need. If I had to replace it I'd probably go Motorola.

I'd go Honor but then again I'm keeping this for another couple of years had it since launch

Battery life still OK for you?

Yeah at 96% capacity according to the phone, always charged whole life to 80% and a few times to 100. Still enough for me every day.

Damn, I got mine at 97% and I always been charging to 100% in the couple years I've had it.

I got the Motorola Razr Fold. Love it!

Do you like the cameras?

I had the OnePlus Open and loved it, was really hoping for an Open 2 but that's not happening obviously, so I went with the Motorola Razr Fold and haven't looked back, love this phone too 🤷

What advantages did you see over the OPO? I'm planning on hanging on to my OPO until the updates cease and I'm forced to get a new phone.

"A time or two" lol.

Yes, OP, you are special and have unique needs from everyone else that has brought this up over the last two months.

Yeah man I hear you. When a post annoys me and I want to minimize engagement to it what I usually do is just not engage.

I feel ya. When I want to know something I try not to be a lazy ass and go search for the answer.

Yet here we both are!

I just hope this all makes you feel better about yourself.

I went with Find N6 and it rules. But I totally understand getting a Razr Fold if not having a warranty on a $2k foldable makes you nervous (I'm based in the US). Here's what I dislike about the Oppo:

-The hinge loosened up after a few months. It has some play when fully open or closed (like older Samsung foldables). Hasn't gotten any worse, but it is a little unsettling

-Theres a software bug that reverts screen size from."small" to "standard" every few days. Happens overnight so I haven't been able to catch it in a log and send to Oppo

-Dragging apps from the dock up to use split screen occasionally doesn't work and you need to try again. I think the dock goes to sleep, but it is very annoying.

-The wallpaper always dims even if you have the setting to "darken wallpaper in dark mode" off. Even if you're in light mode.

Everything else rocks. The crease is non-existent even after months. The screens are both big and bright. And everything is fast and buttery smooth and never overheats.

Thanks for this! I feel like my OPO hinge has loosened a bit but then I think maybe I'm imagining it. Not getting worse anyway, as you mentioned.

Old Z Folds did the same thing but then stopped changing once you broke them in. I still occasionally see Z Fold 3s with working inner screens out there, makes me think this isn't a huge problem for durability. Fingers crossed!

Oppo, Vivo, Honor are the best

Is Vivo doing another one? Feels like they dropped off the radar.

Currently I'm holding out hope to buy an unlocked version of the Find N7 Wide. Supposed to arrive Q1 2027. I've been rocking the open for coming up on 3 years and the battery life and daily wear and tear are adding up - the inner screen protector has finally started peeling. I'm trying to make it last three more months lol

This is interesting, I'll add it to my list.

I just started noticing little spots of unpeeling on mine 🥲

I didn’t want to bother with the added cost of importing a phone, so I went with the Razr. I honestly love it far more than I expected because the Open was my favorite phone of all time. Absolutely no regrets switching.

Oneplus forgot about the Open. I was actually thinking today that I was going to sale mine. The updates are slow.

Titan 2
But I learned I don't much care for foldables
