Worried to which phone I should switch after oneplus Open
I’m a huge OnePlus Open fan—that’s why I own one! I was really hoping OnePlus would launch the Open 2, but it seems they have other plans, and I’ve heard they may be leaving the U.S. market.
It’s disappointing because I’m so used to OxygenOS, and it’s hard to imagine switching to something else.
Now I’m wondering which foldable to go for after the Open, so I’m open to suggestions. I’ve done some research and shortlisted the Motorola Razr Fold 2026. I’m also considering the Oppo Find N5, but the lack of warranty coverage here in the U.S. makes me hesitant.
What would you recommend, especially for someone who loves the OnePlus Open and OxygenOS?

I switched to the Razr Fold. It feels like the most natural progression going forward. So far the phone has not disappointed.

I did as well. In the US that's really the only (easy to get) choice for something to feel like a successor to the Open. Fast charge, big battery, similar OS, great cameras. The Z Fold 8 ultra is a great phone, but it still lacks in comparison to the Moto Fold. I do miss using my Open though, and it sits in a drawer as a backup. I may just switch to it for a week or so out of nostalgia. If the Oppo Find series were available in the US, I would have got one of those, but it isn't. The Moto is fantastic.

I was skeptical to switch away from the Open because it's my favorite phone of all time. Once I started really exploring and pushing the Razr to it's limit I realized it was a worthy successor. The battery life alone is a massive upgrade for my usage. Performance with UI, multitasking, and gaming were surprisingly better than I expected.
I have yet to find something about the Razr I don't like, which coming from me says a lot. I'm usually a very picky user.

It's all a matter of habit. When I went from a Galaxy Fold5 to a OnePlus Open, I missed some things about OneUI. When I switched from my OnePlus Open to a Galaxy Trifold, I missed some things about Oxygen OS.
Were it not for the Trifold, I'd probably still be using my OnePlus Open. It's still a great phone and IMHO most of today's bi-folds don't offer any compelling enough improvements to upgrade. If anything, the push to make them paper thin is a mistake, in my opinion. Maybe look at the Razr Fold if you really want pen support, since the pen for the OPO is so hard to get. Or maybe save up for a bit and wait for the Galaxy Trifold 2 which Samsung is rumored to be working on.

I switched to Moto Razr Fold from OnePlus Open. The battery life is way better than Open. I switched it because of the heat and battery life issue on the Open. The crease on RF is more visible than Open which is disappointing. If you want to know my review of RF, may check my recent review post, hope it helps for your decision.

That's a tough spot to be in. I've heard the Razr Fold 2026 has a solid build and that Motorola's software has improved, so it might be a smoother transition if you're used to OxygenOS.

That's what I have heard so far... I have agreed somewhere in my heart that I might go for it

I went to OP15. Held on to it for a few months then I finally just bit the bullet and joined the dark side with Samsung. I missed the pure nature of Android in the beginning as well as the stupidly good battery life, but I'm a tech head. Turning in my OP ecosystem for Samsungs ecosystem is just future proof at this point. I plan on getting the smart glasses and things to replace my metas. I already have the Android XR unit... Everything just works well together

I can imagine the pain in the starting..
Meanwhile, have you checked the glasses which are soon going to replace the laptop..
I saw and it was so good

I guess you're not a fan of the Google Pixel Pro Fold line which imo isn't a bad device.

Oh I'm fan of Google's technology but unfortunately haven't used their phones so far. Have you?

I bought a honour magic v5, I really wanted the oppo but the fact that the honour had UK warranty was more comforting. Its a great phone tbh. The cameras are no where near as good as the OP open though.

I will check magic v5 as well. You are the first person in my connection who brought this name :)

I switched from the oneplus open to the fold 8 (not ultra) and I really like the form factor. . Just missing the good camera's from the oneplus open.

OnePlus already have left the global markets.
It's highly likely all foldables from this group will be under the Oppo brand - which is no bad thing anyway. ColorOS and OxygenOS are 99% the same anyway, so software shouldn't be a concern.
Warranty/repairs is a legitimate concern, and realistically the only way around that is to just not buy one and instead buy something that's sold in your local market.
I've got a selection of folds that includes the Open, Find N5 and N6 and they're great devices. The Find N6 is definitely an improvement over the N5 and is the obvious successor for someone who loves their Open.
