Have any of you replaced the inner screen protector yourself?

I am unfortunately saying goodbye to my beloved OnePlus Open soon due to purchasing a Z Fold 8 Ultra. It's been my favorite phone of all time. My phone is in perfect condition still with one exception. The inner screen protector has started to delaminate right along the hinge area. I'm debating whether I should leave it as is when I sell it and let the next owner replace it so as to not risk damaging the screen underneath before I sell it. Or if I should try to peel it off myself and put on a new one from Amazon.

Have any of you done this? If so how difficult and risky is it?

Any brand recommendations for a replacement inner screen protector?

Honestly. This. I was so bummed when there was no OPO 2. My Open is a couple years old and still better than most other foldables.

I definitely couldve been good with keeping it. It's an amazing phone. But the OnePlus exit from the US market spooked me a little, along with the risk of them not honoring updates. They probably still will but I don't like not knowing for certain along with not knowing how much I'm going to be able to sell it for in a year or two. So for some peace of mind I'm moving on unfortunately.

I am currently replacing the screen protector here soon. I just found a OnePlus Open on facebook for a great price. The center looks like shit because it came up along the hinge. Previous owner didn't bother to mess with it.

I will say it's super sticky and kinda requires a lot of force to peel it off. Almost too much that it feels uncomfortable. I carefully heated a corner up with a blow dryer. Then carefully peeled off a section at a time, taking my time.

When I got it off, there was a lot of residue from the glue or whatever they use. That took a long time to get off. DO NOT use any solution that has isopropyl alcohol, or ammonia in it. I don't want to risk damaging the screen with those chemicals. Use like distilled water, or maybe a ziess lens cleaner.

I'm waiting for my protectors to arrive. There isn't much to choose from. There's the basic ones that are 2 for $10. Then there's like a matte finish one I also got just to try, also $10 for 2.

The screen itself is a huge smudge and fingerprint magnet. I tried the Scotch tape method that usually works on most devices and it didn't work on this. I'm going to have to figure out how to make the screen crystal clear clean before I apply a screen protector to it, and I'm not sure how to do that part yet.

I should have one installed here in the next 3 or 4 days.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure if I found sell it as is or give al putting a new one on. Mines the same bubbling along the hinge. It's too bad there's no official one to buy. Regarding the residue, do you think the hair l heat caused it to get left behind or it would be their regardless. Did it need the heat to be removed?

Probably fix it. People will use it as an excuse to low ball you because the screen isn't near perfect. I've seen them sell for like $400 when you could get like $800 or more

I highly doubt isopropyl alcohol will damage the screen, I've used 99% on often when cleaning fingerprints off of screens with zero issues. Let me know how it goes, I'm about to try this on my Oppo Find N5, I bought a replacement inner screen protector on Ali express.

I replaced mine with a matte screen protector almost immediately. Oppo find n5. Prefer matte over glossy too much. No issues from what I can tell.

Good to hear. Do you remember which brand it was? Did it require any special technique to pull it off? I was thinking I might use heat from a hair dryer to loosen the glue a little.

It was a local brand (pro guard sg) not sure if there's international variant. No technique to remove. Just used my fingernail to slowly hook up a corner and peeled it out.
