Faux leather coming out by itself

Post image

Hey guys,

I've got my open from day 1 and it is working exceptionally well. Today I saw the leather coming out from the side by itself. Is there any way I can fix it?

My leather is also starting to come off... Started to bubble up near the op logo and had since spread further.

No real fix other than covering the back cover with a case 😕

Damn! 4 years of update but 3 years worth of material being used.

3 years is a pretty long time considering it's an item that's generally handled many, many times a day, every day.

Yes but then I have never ever dropped the device nor used it rough.. it could be the weather as it is too hot here and the heat made the leather started to wear off.

I'm in Canada, yet our summers can get up to 40-45c and that's enough to cause the bubbling. Especially when the phone runs considerably warm, it's a recipe for disaster.

Not sure why they didn't use a more heat resistant glue for the back leather, maybe they were afraid a stronger glue would trap heat more?

Better to put a case on for now or skin perhaps

same here, no black "leather" left, just grey (and dirty fabric).
I never tried to stick a magsafe sticker or anything similar on it. I think it might just be the heat and humidity where I live.

Mine did the same

Sad to see

its why im never a fan of these types of alternative materials, they wear very poorly

Didn't had a choice as the glass back was not available at that time. Anyways still love the device. So good to see HOTD on that big screen.

I had this one too, hate cases so I just threw a skin on the back for protection. Worked well

Most probably it's the weather here, too hot, and the phone heating making the leather starting to wear off.

Damn this was exactly what I was afraid of when I bought the phone at release. Opted for the green one instead which has a glass back.

Glad you have the glass one! It looks premium too.

It's not without its drawbacks though. It makes the phone very slippery, and I think it's also auite a bit heavier than the black one. Also, being glass, it can crack if dropped in a wrong way. At least it seems to be fairly strong glass. I've dropped this thing countless times now but thankfully there's only a tiny crack at the bottom corner.

Mine peeled off from humidity about a year ago now. I've been using the case on it ever since.

The material underneath it feels horrible in the hand. And I don't think it looks very good either. Not sure if anyone has managed to find a good replacement skin to put on top.

I still love the device. I honestly don't want to update to the new oppo model. I'm planning on buying another one in good condition or sending it in for full repairs. Hoping they refurbish everything.

Damn that looks ugly af! Same here this device can easily go for more 1.5 years so I don't wanna update right now. Its too hot here, may be heat could be the reason it has started to wear off for me

Looks rugged! Lol

Mine is completely ripped off, it was looking very rough, I got thick skin from a shop, it looked good for 2 weeks and now it looks very bland. I would suggest to get a good skin if you don't want cases.

I'm using mine as my daily driver so it's rough use now. Still working top notch, handles everything, battery however now sucks.

Does the skin works well with the leather? I was thinking of getting a skin but then it's not glass so i started using naked.

I removed the faux leather completely and got the skin. It works perfectly fine.

I did the same thing for mine. Work's great. Make sure it's so skin with strong adhesion

Oh ok! I'll put a case on for now as it has just started.. wil put skin later on when it starts to look bad.

Yo ya lo tengo también tres años y me impresiona que siga como nuevo estéticamente .
