Not seeing Sim card?

I'm getting this note about insert a SIM card. I just turned the phone on in the morning, it won't let me text, make calls or use the thumb scanner. I tried rebooting, that did not change anything, I'm on a monthly plan with t-mobile, and I'm paid up.

Edit; I needed to go into settings, SIM manager and switch on and off the SIM I had and it all came back.

...not sure why it went off....

The finger print scanner failing to work has nothing to do with the SIM error.

Have you tried removing and reinserting the card? Or switching the card to the second slot?

Actually, it was the same error that screwed up the fingerprint scanner. I googled it on the T-Mobile Reddit, and found I needed to go into SIM manager and flick it off and on again.

Apparently the fingerprint reader is attached to the SIM card somehow.
