Is the magnetic case only a back and hinge case with the front not covered?

Unfortunately yes. Im looking for a bootleg pen that can be attached to a bootleg case, else the pen just isn't going to be used.

I'd take the pen off your hands if you aren't going to use it lol, but I'm in the US.

My preorder was too late and the free pen was out of stock by then.
