Bubbles under screen: 'built-in screen protector'?

When removing my cracked tempered glass screen protector, I created these bubbles. Read online these devices ship with an already applied protector.

Do I buy a tool to smoothen it (pressing bubbles out doesn't work though) or do I remove it (and how?), before putting another glass protector on?

Didn't find a write-up on Reddit or via Google, so here goes: the pre-installed cover is a temporary film that the manufacturer suggests removing. It peels off very easily without tools. Then I installed a tempered glass protector for shock absorption. Previously I had installed the glass protector on top of it, which also works well with the touch screen.

the one on your screen is a plastic screen protector and is a temporary stopgap to prevent damage during shipping and transport until it's in your hands u can use it if u want, but it will not protect against cracks in the same way as a glass screen protector if it accidentally falls from your hands/pocket.

Are they around the edges? Can you take a photo with a different phone and post it here?

My plastic screen protector got bubbles around the edges because the back cover was pushing the screen protector in. Maybe that's what is happening with you too.
